"Well that could have gone better," Carol said after an uncomfortable amount of silence had passed. They had just returned from "the garden" after learning that the Infinity Stones were destroyed. Naturally they were pretty dismal.
"Gee you think so," Rhodey retorted. The others would have said something, but they were just so defeated after what they had learned.
There was nothing left to do. Thanos had won. Their friends, their family, everyone. They were truly lost.
"I-I need some air," Thor said sprinting out of the room. Steve started to go after him, but Rocket took his hand and shook his head.
"Now what Cap?" Natasha asked refusing to look up. Steve sighed, finding the floor suddenly interesting. He put his hand on his chin.
"Well first we better tell To-"
"Oh my God, Steve," Carol stated eyes widening. Steve looked up.
"Hmm," he said. Carol jumped but recovered quickly enough.
"No not, you Steve," she said pointing at the window. "Him Steve!"
Everyone turned their head to the glass doors. Suddenly before them were three people. A middle aged man, a young girl, and an old man nearing a hundred.
The middle aged man's eyes were widening just as much as Carol's as his jaw dropped open.
"CAROL!" he said.
"STEVE!" Carol shouted.
"Carol," the old man said.
"Dad!" Carol responded, her voice growing more hysteric.
"Carol," the old man said. Rhodey rushed to open the door. Though in hindsight he probably shouldn't have. "Oh my god, we thought you were dead." The old man moved his walker towards Carol.
"M-Maria, didn't tell you," Carol stammered. Why was her family here? More importantly why were they here now!? She looked to her new allies who were shaking their heads.
"No! We lost all contact with her after you," the other Steve rapidly shot out. "Wait how are you alive!?"
"Oh my Carol, you look so young," the old man said trying to reach Carol's face.
"Yeah," Carol said smiling awkwardly. She guided her dad's hands to her face.
"It really is you isn't it?" the old man said. Tears were welling in his eyes.
"Yes, Dad," Carol said.
"Again how," the other Steve stated. "Last time I checked my little sister was only couple years younger than me and dead!"
"Yeah… about that," Carol started.
Meanwhile in the background, Rocket turned to the other remaining Avengers and began whispering.
"Should we go, or something?" The others shrugged clearly at a loss of what to do.
"Ok now don't freak out," Carol said. "But that day I "died," I was kind of… well not kind of… I was abducted by aliens!"
The other Steve's eyes widened. So did the girls'.
"And they did something to me," Carol went on. "Now I don't age as quickly."
There was a beat of silence. The other Steve was about to say something when suddenly.
"Confound it aliens!" the old man said raising his fist in anger. "First, they inadvertently trap me in the quantum realm, get me stranded in the 1960s, making me lose the love of my life and my daughter. And then they take away my other daughter! Confound it, I say."
Carol and the other Avengers froze.
"WHAT!?
Notes:
Ok quick notes:
First off, yes: I am aware that Joseph Danvers looks nothing like Scott Lang. You don't need to point that out. I just couldn't get the idea out of my head, so I ran with it.
Second for all of you wondering, the little girl is Cassie.
