She stared at it.
She stared at it….
She still didn't understand.
She wouldn't dare poke at it, but she wasn't sure if it was real or not.
There Butch was, holding his hand out to her with a big grin on his face.
He was holding dirt.
"Wah…." Was all she could say.
"Look inside," was his bold reply.
If you looked close enough, you could see a small worm wiggling around through the dirt.
That's when Bubbles screamed and flew off, leaving Butch to wonder what he did wrong.
She stared at it.
She stared at it.
She still didn't understand.
There Butch was with his hands gripped to the metal, a big grin still gracing his face.
Inside the metal was, as Bubbles would say, the cutest, most sad squirrel she had ever seen.
"Let it go!" She wailed. She grabbed the cage and flew off to the forest to set her little critter friend free.
Leaving a dejected but prideful Butch to wonder what he did wrong.
This time she didn't stare at it.
This time she didn't even look closely at it.
This time she wouldn't take it.
"Leave me alone!" was all she yelled before flying off.
Leaving a hurt Butch behind.
She stared at him.
She stared at him.
She still didn't understand.
But she held him, and she let him cry on her shoulder. Still not sure if it was real or not.
There Butch was, sitting all alone, with the saddest eyes she had ever seen on such a fierce boy.
He was holding his tears in.
"Why….?" Was all she could say.
"Brick say's when you love someone you give them something you like, Boomer says when you love someone you give them cute stuff."
"Well….when I love someone I give them a hug," she replied.
And she gave him the biggest hug she's ever given someone.
Set when their around 8.
When I love someone I give them hugs too.
