Author's Note: I started this a while again, before the season finale. And I wasn't planing on posting this but I figured I'd throw it out there. It's kind of fitting. As always, enjoy and review!

Sinking

She's not sure if she believes in happily-ever-after.

She snores.

He sleeps in another bedroom,

To get away from her.

A girl with commitment and abandonment issues.

Go figure.

And he blames her for screwing up chief.

He won't say it to her face,

But she can see it in his eyes.

The disappointment,

The blame,

And the feeling of failure,

When in reality,

He is the best.

The best at brain surgery.

On the west coast, he quickly will correct.

The best at medical jargon,

At emergency surgery,

And at doctoring,

Patient care,

And finding miniscule fractures.

You did that, he will point out.

The best at dark blue scrubs,

Ferryboat scrub caps,

And latex gloves.

The best at being a promising boyfriend.

For promising to always come back.

No matter if she yells,

He yells,

Or they both yell.

He promised he'd come home,

Because she's never done this before.

The best at mind-blowing,

Screaming orgasmic,

Makes-you never-ever-ever-want-to-stop…

At hard,

Angry,

Dirty-Mistress-and-married-man-reunion-in-an-exam-room…

At tendering

Loving,

Whispering-sweet-nothings-in-her-ear…

Sex.

Trust her,

He is the best.

The best at remembering

Her birthday,

Cristina's birthday,

And a condom,

Even if it is glow-in-the-dark.

Which no man,

But he,

Can pull off.

The best at driving her crazy,

Making her want to push him into an on-call room,

Lock the door,

And tell him to stop,

Which consists of giving in.

(She giggles at a memory,

"There are plenty of way to have fun without taking your clothes off, Meredith."

If only her mother could see her most of the time.

In the shower.

In the bed.

In the hammock.)

But he's also the best at secrets,

Bottling up,

And not sharing,

Which normally would be fine with her,

But she's trying.

And he's not.

And he's also the best of slapping her.

Figuratively, of course.

"I met a woman last night."

"Should I be worried or something?"

"It was the highlight of my week."

A blow to the mind.

A blow to the heart.

And he is the best at making her weak.

"You're the love of my life."

What's that suppose to mean?

"I'm in this but you're not."

What's that suppose to mean?

She doesn't need him to breathe for her.

She just needs him to throw the life preserver,

Every once in a while.

And in return,

She can do it for him too.

And she will get it to him.

Before the ferryboat sinks.
