Author's Note:
Just a short piece that came into my head. Probably will re-write. If/When I do, I'll update summary. Hope you enjoy.
Spencer Reid leaned against the door, watching the teenager string his guitar. His mother had gotten it for him a few years ago for Christmas. Spencer had hated that thing for the first year, hearing the most god awful things coming from the boy's room. Spencer watched as the boy tilted his head, closing his eyes, listening and tuning the guitar. Once it was at his liking, he strummed to make sure it sounded good - and it did. The man smiled a little when his son smiled. His eyes were still closed as he started to strum a few chords. Spencer started to leave when the younger man started to play something. Spencer paused turning back to him. The man was curled over the guitar, his fingers moving quick and skillfully over the fretboard. Spencer gawked as beautiful soulful solo filled the air.
Arms wrapped around him from behind, his wife's chin on his shoulder. "Amazing isn't it?"
Spencer merely nodded, his eyes and ears focused in on the boy in front of him.
Emily smiled. "And you thought he wasn't a genius."
Spencer rolled her eyes. "I never said that."
"Oh, but I saw that look in your eye when he didn't start speaking until he was almost one."
"I'm glad he's not overly intelligent. It's too much pressure."
"I know, Spence." He felt her lips on his neck. "Plus, this genius will get him a lot more girls."
Spencer turned to her. "What?"
Emily chuckled. "Oh don't give me that look. Even you know that girls like men who can play music."
Spencer rolled his eyes. "You seem to enjoy my gift."
Emily raised an eyebrows. "You do have a way to talk yourself into my good graces, but then again, if you ever picked up an instrument, I might just jump you, love."
Spencer seemed to think about it. "Maybe Daniel can teach me how to play piano."
Emily chuckled.
