The Cleanup Begins, a wall-e fanfic

A long long time ago
Barely can remember
The planet used to be so green
But then along came B-n-L
All that was needed they did sell
With all the trash the ground was no more seen.

To me it was some major setup,
We did the work, they called it "Cleanup".
My workmates said "We've had it",
Don't know why I did not quit.

For seven hundred years, you see,
I did my job persistently,
And maybe it was destiny,
Cause then I found this probe.

High, high, stacking trash to the sky
Found that plant evaluator
Can't stop watching her fly
And blasting off I wave my planet good-bye
Wanna be with her though she's in standby,

Did you know these girls today:
To impress them's costly, I must say.
At least she stopped to shoot at me.
But she's just my love at first sight
And that sandstorm dared me to invite;
I just hope my furniture forgives me.

Out of the blue she tumbles to the ground,
A problem with that planty thing I found?
No matter what I do,
Seems she will never ever come to.

Back at work I can't get her off my mind,
I hear the ship returning to collect her find
And race to not get left behind,
Don't want to lose my probe!

And I start singing...

When we finally reached that giant ship
I almost lost her on the trip
To the bridge where the Captain wants the plant.
So the plant is gone, but am I to blame?
Agreed, the gun I fired had quite bad aim.
And she wants me gone, and just won't stop her rant.

Then it struck me how this concept sucked:
An escape pod with a self-destruct!
Got away, so close a shave,
Boy, did she like the present I gave!

It's great to dance with her, there was no doubt,
And when she kissed me sparkily it knocked me out
So that was all that love's about:
I'm staying with my probe.

And I was singing...

We all went on that epic quest
To give the plant a place to rest
In that detector, for their home they want to see.
And I got zapped and I got a taste
Of what it feels like for all that waste.
My probe changed her directive just for me.

Back in my dump she starts repairing
Soon through a hole the sun is glaring.
Recharge, reboot and roll-out
At factory-set default.

She fears that it was her mistakes,
In sheer despair my head she shakes,
But just a kiss is all it takes:
I'll never leave my probe.

And I'm still singing...
