a little story I had stuck in my head, a bit of my way of how Yami came back to yugi

Ki: we dont own anything, not yu-gi-oh,not the names, nada !

They say that:

"If you love something, you have to let it go?"

A young duelist watched as the man he really loved walked through the door to the afterlife. He promised him and himself not to cry or to be sad. But he couldn't help that one tear that escaped when the giant door made one last click.

"Yugi, we have to go now!" a young blonde shouted.

"Yeah, the whole building is going to collapse. We have to run!" a girl shouted. Yugi started to run, whispering "Good bye. You're where you belong."

As all the friends sat in the helicopter, the spiky haired teen stared outside, where a cloud of dust now hovered over the area where they just were.

"Are you ok?" a british teen asked sadly.

Yugi gave a small smile. "I think I am, he's where he belongs now, right?"

Joey gave him a small pat on his back. "Hey Yugi, we're here for ya if you need us, ok?" Yugi nodded and went back to watching the sunset as they flew back home.

-One year later-

A tri-color haired teen hummed as he walked home. He still lived at the old game shop. He started helping there again when the memories weren't as painful. He still thought about his other self. His "Yami". He let out a long sigh as he entered the shop "I'm home, Grandpa." Said person appeared from behind a pile of stacked boxes.

"Hi, Yugi. Welcome home. Can you help me once you're done with your work?" The young teen nodded and ran upstairs. He flipped open his notebook to work on a poem he was writing, with the title "If you love something". He took his pen and noticed in the corner some drawing he didn't remember putting there. Yugi took his glasses to take a closer look. He saw they were hieroglyphs. "What do they mean?" He looked around for the book he got for his birthday and flipped it open. "Hmm, ah, here it is." he said to himself. "Hey, this is odd." The young teen suddenly shouted "It means-!"

He stopped when a soft, all too familiar voice finished his line. "It means 'If it comes back, it belongs to you.'"

Yugi whirled around to face a bright light and a figure walking towards him. He blinked a few times before realizing who it was "Y-Y-Yami!" the teen stuttered. Said person nodded. "Yes, I'm back now." Yugi was about to believe he fell asleep but Yami shook his head and smiled. "You aren't dreaming." he whispered as he stepped out of the light.

Yugi stared in confusion. "How did you come back? And why?" The once spirit smiled. "Well, the Gods allowed the person I became when I was with you, before my memories, to come back because I missed you so much. And as for the why..." he stopped for a second and flashed Yugi his all too well known smirk "Well, I guess I belong with you." Yugi's eyes teared up as he flung himself at Yami. "I missed you so much!" The older teen caught the crying little one and held him close. "I missed you too, aibou."

As the two were talking to each other, a soft click was heard as the door to his room softly closed. Grandpa smiled and walked downstairs. "If it returns, it belongs to you after all."
