When the time came batalanta was formed when all of Luna's guards were put out of duty after Luna was banished to the moon. They chose to colonize Mount Ever hoof and its surrounding mountains. Then 2 political parties were formed the loyalist Luna party whose candidate was Luna's student. And the Celestial party who believed that Celestia's student should be in power. So the students were elected every 6 years. That was, until the fragile peace was fractured.
Soon the once united batalanta was now East batalanta and batalanta. Both became student monarchies. A student monarch is when the ruler's student becomes king or queen. But once Luna returned only batalanta was happy and the east was not. While the student was still king or queen the official head of state was now Luna.
Civil war is a tragic thing a very tragic thing but without aid from neither princess, nor the princess of harmony east and west went to war with one and other a long and bloody war it was. It was also almost the first ever use of the sonic rain-bomb. But after diplomatic aid from all four princesses it came to a stalemate. The equestrian textbooks would come to call it numbered days war as it was what caused the start of the first continent war which comprised of the hoof (Yakyakistan, canter lot and pony Ville.
