Disclaimer: Nope, don't own full metal alchemist at all.
Warning: Spoilers for episode 51. There's another spoiler in there from a different episode, but it's so vague that I doubt many will catch it.
A/N: Sisterly love. Such a sweet thing. Anime-based for the most part. This is really short. As usual, constructive criticism if any. Tell me what you think.
In a way, their relationship fit quite nicely. They had much in common, besides their appearances. Such as their somewhat questionable choice in men, and the weapons with which they used to tame those men. Neither man could be tamed of course, but that was beside the point. These women had much in common, despite obvious differences.
Winry didn't know what to make of Riza when they first actually spoke. Considering the circumstances under which they used speech, Winry might have overreacted and went out of line. However, that incident did not affect their current sibling-like relationship. Any stranger would have mistaken them as real sisters, but that was a common mistake. The blonde hair was usually what caught other people's attention.
Riza had trouble interacting with the Rockbell girl at first. She had no doubt the young woman could be charming when she wanted to be, but she was just downright hostile when first they spoke. Understandable, but a bit intolerable to her. Yet, it was as if that memory was forgotten and they started over with a clean slate. Winry would flush whenever people mistook them as family, but Riza herself would just smile, neither denying nor acknowledging.
Occasionally, Winry would take time off from her mechanical training in Rush Valley to visit the widow Hughes, Elysia, Scheiska, and Riza. She listened to Gracia recount her memories of long ago, played with the infinite power plant known as Elysia, dug Scheiska out of her mound of books, and had chats with Riza over tea in cafes. She would remain for a week before she left again to Rush Valley. She claimed Dominic was a tough task master, although she made sure to reserve a week for each month to visit.
During those weeks, Riza often found herself pushing herself and her coworkers harder to finish the work. The men all complained of course, but they were useless. Their complaints usually ceased when she shot off a few rounds of her issued military pistol. She wished to have more time to spend during those weeks, and pushing the idiotic men a little more wouldn't kill them.
Winry often found herself running to Riza for help when she desperately needed it. It was comforting to speak to another woman, especially when there were some things men should never know and wouldn't understand anyways. Paninya was a great help to her too, but it didn't help that she was close to Winry's age. Riza was a full-grown woman, and she had the experience Winry sometimes required.
Riza felt content in finally being able to give knowledge about other things besides guns and work. Knowledge of womanly things, hormonal things. She gave advice about the kinds of things a girl really needed during mood swings, and the knowledge to control hormonal responses. Being a tomboy did not render her feminine side useless, and Winry was one of the few that knew that better than anyone else.
They both found that neither minded being mistaken as siblings. Winry decidedly liked having an "older sister" around for advice and help. Riza liked having another female to depend on and protect. The feeling was mutual for them both. The men in their worlds didn't understand why it was so important for these two women to keep this particular relationship intact.
The women's only response to the men's ignorance was, "It's a girl thing."
A/N: Expect "Brotherly Love" soon.
