Mistletoe
Fred/Cho
Fred Weasley was never nervous.
Never.
He didn't feel nervous when George had fallen from the treehouse and had broken his leg, no, he knew his brother would pull through it. He didn't feel nervous when he hadn't bothered studying for his O.W.L., or when Filch was about to find him and George charming Mrs. Norris bright blue.
But today, for some reason, Fred was feeling it. There was no denying that the odd sensation that was coursing through him at this very moment was nerves. Cho Chang stood next to him, attempting to cast her Patronus, and smiled at him when she had finally gotten it to materialize. He grinned back stupidly, though mentally slapping himself for looking like such a daft git.
"Have you done it yet?" she asked. He blinked twice, not knowing what she was talking about. George laughed – he surely knew. He always did.
Damnit, Fred.
"Er – what?"
"Your Patronus. Let's see it!"
He gulped, not having worked on the spell yet.
"Uh – okay. Expecto patronum!" He jabbed his wand outwards slightly, and a feeble, white mist protruded from the tip of his wand. He felt his face grow hot when she giggled at him.
"Better get practicing." she said, turning to cast the spell once more.
"Yeah, Freddie," said George from beside him, giving him a berating look, "Better get practicing."
"You're a git." he replied, his face bright red.
"You love me." George looked smug, and turned to help Katie Bell cast her spell.
Soon enough, Harry had dismissed the meeting, and most of the DA had already left the room.
"You coming, Fred? Lee wants to show us something. C'mon, hurry up." said George, but quickly waved him off when he noticed Fred wasn't listening, but staring off in the other direction. "Be safe. I don't want to be an uncle just yet."
Fred turned just then, only to see his twin walking off and waving behind him.
"Hello, Fred," said Cho, causing him to turn once more, so abrupt he was beginning to feel dizzy. "We should be getting back to classes now. I'll be seeing you at the next meeting, I s'pose."
She began to walk away, but not before he could call out.
"Hey – uh – Cho?"
"Yes?"
What the hell are you doing?
"You know there's a – we've got a – would you like to spend the next Hogsmeade trip with me?" It all came out so jumbled and fast, he wondered if she understood what he had said.
She moved a bit closer, smiling at him. He could feel the blood rushing to his head again.
"Oh – I'd love to." she said softly, and it was then that he realised how close they really were to each other. Her lips were inches away from his.
Just do it.
He did it – he felt his lips touch Cho's without direction. His legs felt as though they would give way, his stomach felt somewhat queasy, but he carried on. He felt her hands slip into his.
Stop thinking stop thinkingstopthinking.
The smell of her hair was like a cold winter morning. It chilled him, made him breathless, revived him. She was as cool as mint, and yielded to his touch. He was tentative at first, a bit awkward. Her lips parted slowly, enticing Fred deeper. Their tongues touched as their lips moulded to each other's. He heard the door open, though they didn't stop and turn.
"See? I told you he was busy." Fred heard his twin say, and broke apart immediately. Lee stood in front of the door, a large grin on his face.
"And Fred Weasley scores!" he shouted. George laughed, Fred looked murderous. Cho laughed quietly.
I'll kill them.
"I'll see you later, Cho." said Fred quietly, before his expression turned almost hysteric, and he chased his two giggly best friends out the door.
"Goodbye!" she called out the door.
She looked up, and noticed that they had been standing under the mistletoe.
A/N: Oh boy, do I love this pairing! No joke, I think they're great. :) Anyways, R&R. This wasn't my best, but I like it.
