Prologue

A girl was running as fast as she could from a man with distorted features and yellow skin. It was dark except for the faint glow coming from the moon. The brunette was running when she tripped up the kerb. She slowly rolled over and looked up at the monster above in fear before her mouth twisted into a smirk.

'You demons can't resist a trip and fall can you?' She kicked out with her left leg sending the "demon" down onto his knees.

'Who are you?' The demon demanded. The girl slowly stood up.

'I'm Dawn, the sun ranger, and you are?' The demon growled at her and leaped up from his position to hit her with a right hook knocking her head back slightly.

'I'd have thought you demons would know not to do that by now.' She spun round a kicked him fifty feet backwards. 'Time to finish this.' She raised her hand to the air with what looked like a flaming sun pendant in her hand. 'Power of sunlight, shine bright, SUN UP!' And within seconds of the chant she was coated in a bright orange light which when it faded away left her standing in a black skirt with two slits going up to above her knees with flames flowing up from the bottom and a black top which stopped under her breasts then zig zagged down in various materials across the rest of her upper body. Her face was covered with a black mask covering her eyes and her hair was pulled sharply back into a high ponytail. On her legs were strapped two mini knives and on her waist was a sword.

'Uh oh.' Sighed the demon.

'Damn straight.' Dawn unsheathed her sword and spun through the air towards her opponent. She slashed at him with her sword three or four times before he managed to block her. He knocked her sword out of the way and kicked her exposed midriff, she stumbled backwards slightly but countered with a roundhouse kick and then swiped him with her sword again. 'You're time is up buster!' She raised her sword skyward and the moon started to glow brighter. 'SUN SPOTS!' A bright orange light beamed down from the moon and bounced off the sword towards the demon destroying him in an explosion. Slowly Dawn lowered her sword. 'Sun down.' She demorphed and looked nervously around, 'I hope nobody saw that.'

But she was wrong, someone had seen her. A man covered in shadows watched her from behind a tree before disappearing a streak of green light.
