Prologue
70 years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, the world has been trying to rebuild itself. Town after town the world was on a steady recovery. Many towns were made near the old ruins of the past. One town was remade right over the old town of Nibelheim. It is a peaceful town, no bigger than maybe a couple families. The town, however, is famous for a very well know story teller that tells of the old times and how the ruins of the world came to be. His son, Kanetoshi, never believes the stories however. He believes that its all in the past and there is no reason to care about it. He grew up believing this. The town loves to hear the tale of the brave warrior with a sword the size of a dragons fang and his friends how helped him save the world from sure evil. It is said that the story teller has the sword he spoke of in the stories, but none have seen it, not even Kanetoshi. Materia was now a rare commodity, along with mako. Mako is the substance that gives the planet life. Materia is the planets life energy only in a condensed form. Materia can create Magic and powerful forces to use against monsters and other living things. The story teller often told of a special white and black materia, both said to have been the most powerful materia in existence. Now you will be lucky to find even a shard of it around anywhere. Kanetoshi believes that all this is in the past and there is no reason to care about it. He thought that all his life. He never gave a care about the past and always focused on the future. He always dreamed of going on adventures and searching the world. He wanted to discover the real past to what happened, and maybe find some materia along the way. He hardly ever listens to his fathers stories, until one day when he almost had to in order to save his life and the lives of others.
