Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky

Missing You

(I wrote this, thinking about what happened over the months since the hero left and what the partner's thoughts were. Now, this is not intended to be a spoiler for Through Her Eyes, but to give more insight into the partner's thoughts. This is my interpretation of what happened a few weeks after the hero's departure.)

It's been so long without you.

I feel like I have no one to turn to.

I just can't seem to forget you.

Especially after everything we went through together.

Those words were Amy's thoughts. A few weeks had passed since her exploration partner, Sonic, left. And it was almost completely unexpected.

When she said that she wouldn't know what she would do without him, he said that she needed to be strong on her own, that she had to live. She said that he was more important than anything else and he agreed, saying that he felt the same way.

Amy didn't fully understand it before, but somehow she knew that Sonic was different from the others. And now she knew why that was the case; because he made her feel special.

Others judged her because she was timid and she was scared, but Sonic didn't. He also saw past her appearance and saw the real her that was inside. He also treated her like she mattered and was not afraid to stand up for her or protect her, no matter what.

Because Sonic cared for her, Amy started to experience feelings that she never imagined of before. There was a sense of belonging, a sense of knowing that someone really looked out for her, but there was a sense of knowing there was someone... who liked her beyond friendship, even without realizing it.

Amy felt like Sonic was her friend. He was the first true friend that she ever had, and she felt like they were inseparable.

She had seen it many times, instances that Sonic really cared for her. But one particular memory went through her head.

Amy braced herself for the attack, but then she saw Sonic standing in front of her, with his arms spread out.

"Don't hurt Amy, Dusknoir!" Sonic warned. Amy was surprised. "Why do you always protect her, Sonic? She's a Vulpix. There are a million more in the world that are just like her!" Dusknoir shouted. Sonic looked back at Amy and responded "Not to me, there isn't."

To Amy, that was a true example of the fact that Sonic saw past her appearance. He saw the real her, and because of that it caused him to defend her.

She was unique to Sonic, and that was something no one that she knew of before Sonic saw. They wanted Amy to be who they wanted her to be, but Sonic accepted her for who she was.

Amy looked at a picture of Sonic that she kept at her bedside since just a few days after he left. Even though it had been a while now, Amy still thought of him.

He would want her to not forget him. After all, she knew that it was something that would make him truly proud of her.

"I miss you, Sonic. But I'm going to live for you, because I know it's what you would have wanted from me." Amy said.

As she went to sleep, the memories of her adventures with Sonic went through her head. They were memories of him that she would never forget.
