Disclaimer (cuz i managed to forget the first time. whoops): The original story sadly does not belong to me.
It was the strangest feeling. He had no trouble sleeping prior to this day. For him it was important that one went to bed early, and rose early. Like they say, the early bird catches the worm.
He thought to go to the family dojo but thought better of it. He didn't think kendo could calm him down. Instead he came to the next best conclusion, the tennis court.
The roads were deserted but that was to be expected. It was early morning, no one save the few who couldn't sleep were awake. Those who were in a peaceful slumber were blissfully unaware of the events that could happen during dawn, the time when hearts connect best.
With his racket in hand, he began to hit the ball against the wall. There was something calming and soothing about hitting a ball back and forth against a wall. It would come back at you in a rhythmic pattern like the pendulum of a grandfather clock.
He forcefully willed all his thoughts away with every bounce in a futile attempt to stop what he was feeling at this moment.
Looking up, he noted that it was indeed the hospital he was staying at. And it hit him. Really hit him. Hit him like the tennis ball had. He was in love with Yukimura Seiichi.
Suddenly all the events that had led up to this moment made sense and fell into place.
He couldn't sleep because of him. He was anxious too because of him. He would not be there tomorrow to watch him play (even though he knew he was not needed). There would be no swell in his heart as he looked over at the one who had been the team's inspiration for winning.
The need for victory was even stronger this year. To show their captain that they could do it and that they would. No matter what, the Rikkai University Middle School Division tennis team would always come out on top. It was guaranteed.
He gave one last look towards the direction of his friend's room window and started to make the trek back home. He hoped no one in his family had noticed his absence.
Realizing that his mind was once again filled with thoughts that would serve no purpose in a match, he decided once and for all to go to the dojo. He was right back where he had started. No matter, in time, these feelings would be dealt with.
A/N: Dunno where I'm trying to go with this. Messing with formatting...since it had none last time. Had the idea to write a companion fic to What Fate Has in Store when I woke up this morning after about 4 hours of sleep. Also cuz i looked outside and liked the colour of the sky...hurray for weird inspiration. Realized as I was writing this that it probably makes little to no sense since it wasn't planned at all. Fml. It would be nice if you liked this one though since the other was mainly to vent XD.
