Disclaimer: I don't own Inu-Yasha
It was a moonless, dark night and Sesshomaru had just gotten back to his campground from another exghausting battle with Naraku. Right now, he really needed some rest. When the tai youkai approached he could see the sleeping form of his commrades. Jaken was laying on top of Au Un, but Sesshomaru didn't really care about them right now. His eyes layed on the form of the sleeping Rin. Sesshomaru always somehow felt a leap of joy when he saw her smiling face. But he always tried to ignore it. Sesshomaru sighed, and was about to go back to where he was going to sleep when he heard a soft moan coming from the girl.
"Lord Sesshomaru," Rin mumbled, rubbing the sleep out of her droopy eyes, "You're back already? Did you win?"
Sesshomaru didn't answer her. He just merely walked away. Rin frowned.
"Please, my lord, wait!" the girl cried in hushed whispers so she wouldn't wake up her fellow commrades. "I got a question."
Once again Sesshomaru didn't answer. Yet he didn't walk away. Rin took that as a chance to ask.
"Why do you barely talk Lord Sesshomaru? If either me or Jaken would to ask you something or say something, you would never answer. Why? Did something bad happen to you?" Rin asked, not taking one pause.
Sesshomaru turned around to look at her. "Why didn't you talk to me at first?"
Rin opened her mouth a bit to speak, but shut it. She really didn't know how to answer that. Then she looked up at him, her eyes soft.
"It's because I couldn't talk ever since my family was killed," she said quietly, but loud enough for Sesshomaru to hear. "I was in to much shock and depression, that I could never found it to talk." Then she looked up at him with a smile. "But ever since I met you, I was able to talk again since you saved me." Sesshomaru slightly nodded and walked off without giving her his answer. The tai youkai sat down and leaned against a tree, thinking about Rin's questions.
Why do you barely talk? Did something bad happen to you?
It was true. He actually missed his father sometimes. Even though it was usually replaced with hate for his half brother, it was still carved deep in there.
"Can you answer my question now?"
Sesshomaru slightly jumped, un aware up until now that Rin had just seated herslef beside him. She stared up at him with pure curiousity.
"I didn't want to waste my voice after my father died," he said quietly, his bangs shadowing his eyes. Rin frowned again.
"I know how you feel," she said. "I couldn't take it either. But we always have to move on, right? We always have to find the bright side of life."
Sesshomaru looked at her in surprise. "Like what?"
The girl's frown changed again into a smile. "Meeting me."
There was silence for a bit, but Rin had somehow made her smile rub off onto Sesshomaru. For the tai youkai himeself was slightly smiling. It was true. He was really glad that he used Tenseiga to bring her to life.
"And my bright side is meeting you!" Rin continued on. "Now I can live my life to the fullest and always be happy thanks to you." That made the youkai's smile grow a bit wider.
"Same," Sesshomaru said. His bright side was meeting her. And Sesshomaru may not always act like it, he would always be happy when Rin was around. The girl looked up at him, but then Sesshomaru said something that was totally unexpected.
"Thank you."
"What? I should be thanking you."
"No. I'm thanking you for helping me. No one else would dare try to come near me, but you did. And I'm thanking you for that."
Rin grinned lightly and snuggled herself into the warmth of her lord. Sesshomaru put his arms around her lightly, and they both fell into a deep sleep, brightened by the light of the moon.
Yep...just a little fluffy fic with Rin and Sessy. This was meant to be a drabble for Bloody Lollipops, but I changed it... so yeah..
