Crystal Gem Temple
Inside the Crystal Gem temple stood Pearl. Pearl took a deep breath, thinking of recent events, like Steven's claims of being able to talk to Lapis through his dreams. That day, Greg had stopped by for a little cookout with Steven and the Gems.
Pearl then heard a door open behind her. From the door stood Greg.
"Hey Pearl," said Greg, "do you know where my lighter is for the grill?"
"It's over there." said Pearl, pointing to the kitchen counter.
Greg grabbed the lighter. Greg was just about to walk out the door before he noticed the painting of Rose Quartz above the door.
"That painting," said Greg, "*sigh* That painting really brings out Rose's beauty."
Pearl became a bit annoyed by Greg mentioning Rose.
"I sure miss her, she would always light up my day, just like Steven." said Greg.
Pearl's face then turned to annoyance. Pearl never turned to face Greg though.
"You know, if there was a way she could have Steven and not have to give up her physical form, I would take that chance." said Greg, a tear streaming down his cheek.
Pearl then turned her head a bit.
"Well maybe you shouldn't have met her." said Pearl.
Greg then turned to Pearl with a confused look.
"What do you mean Pearl?" said Greg.
Pearl then burst out with rage in her eyes.
"Maybe if you never met her, this wouldn't of happened!" yelled Pearl. Pearl clenched her fists as hard as she could and slowly walked towards Greg.
"You always say how much you miss her," said Pearl, "well I miss her too! She was my life! And you took her away from me! It's your fault she's gone!"
Greg started to back away from Pearl.
"If you never met her. If you never laid eyes on her! If you never even came to Beach City, she wouldn't be gone! I wish you were never born!" Pearl started shedding tears.
"Pearl, don't say that!" said Greg, "If I never met her, we wouldn't have Steven."
"If we have Steven, we won't have Rose!" said Pearl.
"But if we have Rose, we won't have Steven!" said Greg.
Pearl then punched Greg as hard as she could. Greg fell onto the couch, his nose dripping with blood.
"Pearl, don't be like this!" said Greg, "Think of Steven, think of how much he makes you and the other Gems laugh! Think of all the good times you guys have had with him! Think of how he makes a connection between Gems and humans! Are you saying you don't want Steven?! Steven's my son, I don't want him taken away from me!"
Pearl was just about to punch Greg again before he said that. Pearl then lowered her fist. Pearl looked on the couch to see a picture, a picture of Steven with the Gems, them all smiling. Pearl saw herself in the picture smiling beside Steven.
"Oh my gosh," said Pearl, "you're right!"
Pearl broke down in tears, her loud sobbing scaring Greg.
"I'm sorry!" sobbed Pearl, "You're right! I feel so stupid!"
Greg got up from the couch and placed his arm on Pearl's shoulder.
"We may have lost Rose, but we have Steven." said Greg.
Pearl then wiped the tears from her face. Pearl looked to Greg and smiled.
"I'm sorry Greg." said Pearl, "You're right, the past is the past, I should just worry about the present."
"It's okay Pearl." said Greg, "I miss Rose a lot too, but we have Steven."
"You know," said Pearl, "you're not really bad at all. You're uh, how do you humans say? Cool."
Pearl and Greg then fist bumped.
"I understand now how good a person you really are." said Pearl, "But one thing, let's never speak of this to Steven or the Gems, and that nosebleed, let's say you tripped and you hit your nose."
"Sure thing." said Greg.
Pearl and Greg then walked out of the temple.
