Disclaimer: If I owned Twilight, would I post my stories on ? Hell no!
The young woman sat on the bare, white floor. The large panoramic windows let in loads of daylight into the big, not very homey room. Her clothes were simple, pointless. The young woman was beautiful, but in a simplistic and exotic way, even in her current state.
Sure, it was noticeable that she wasn't feeling very well. The pale forearms were way too thin; the once so lovely hair had lost its shine.
But the most horrifying thing about the woman was her eyes. They had been so insightful and deep. Now, they were like glass. Completely flat, without a trace of life. Her whole being was totally numb.
Today, on the anniversary of the beginning of her misery, she had decided to deal with what she had fought twelve months to avoid. She was going to open the vault with thousands memories and thoughts she was forbidden to remember, but terrified to forget.
She thought that she had to do something about them. Otherwise, the hole inside would perhaps never disappear. After the rain, there might be sunlight. If she dealt with the pain now, it might be a little, little bit better afterwards.
She struggled with what felt like a huge safety door into a safe. The password wasn't hard, just six letters, it was just so utterly painful to speak, even if it just was in her thoughts.
She tried slowly, letter by letter. Then, they became syllables, which then formed the fateful word.

ED
WARD
EDWARD.
At last, the word was there. It was just a word, a normal world, not special in any way. She repeated the word over and over again in her head. She would have laughed, if it wasn't for her serious mood. She had been so afraid of it.
That was when the vault opened. The memories welled over her like a tsunami. The hole inside her grew bigger and bigger, until it was so big she couldn't breathe anymore. She started to pant, almost hyperventilate. The flashbacks almost drowned her, all of them more painful than the last.
This was the reason to why she had avoided the memories before. She had enough of them at night, nightmares so much more terrifying than any horror movie in the world. However, it was worse now, when she had let the memories out willingly, but the feeling of not being able to breathe was something she recognized. It reminded her of all those nights she had woken hours before sunrise, awakened by her own scream.
She felt like a sieve, not able to contain anything. Not air, not food, not happiness, not hope. The only thing that could break though the numbness was the pain. The pain, and the love, for Edward.
This time his name didn't bring a tidal wave of memories, just one. The most painful one.
"Bella, I don't want you to come with me."
"You…don't…want me?"
"No."
Her unsuccessful gasps for breath became even shorter, and her vision started to get black in the edges. It felt like all air she breathed in just flew out of her chest, before her lungs could take up the oxygen. She started to get dizzy, and if she had been standing, she would probably have fallen to the ground by now.
For a moment, she felt like she could hear, almost smell…
No. Pull yourself together. You're just imagining. He won't come back.
Suddenly, everything went black.
A/N: Ok, this was basically a school assignment, but I was so proud of it that I wanted to post it here. However, it was originally written in Swedish, and I'm not completely happy with the translation, so if you have any suggestions, please leave them in a review.
Review, please!!!
