Disclaimer: I don't own anything or anyone but Adam.

Little idea I had a few days ago. It's my first time writing so no hate please. Constructive criticism is welcome, and please review to tell me whether I should continue Adam's story or not. Thanks

The smacking of rain against glass made it near impossible to hear the pay phones monotonous ringing noise. Urging his friend silently to answer the call Adam furiously rubbed his stormy eyes, blinking back what tears remained unshed. Finding himself eagerly awaiting to hear Toby's voice - claiming he had a solution - the young man studied the ads and graffiti decorating the old phone booth.

Pulling off a number slip for one of the many late night "entertainers' advertised, the sudden answer on the phone startled him. "Who is this?' Toby's groggy voice made Adam sigh in relief, if he hadn't of answered the call Adam would've been left stranded in Philadelphia for the night. "Listen asshole, this isn't fu-"

"Toby, it's Adam from school', he gave Toby a moment to remember who he was and to process the information before continuing, "can you come get me? I'm stuck in Philadelphia, I've no money and I need a place to stay".

"Yeah, yeah I'll um, I'll come get you. Where will I pick you up?"

Adam contemplated his choices. "The bus station by the huge shopping mall. I don't know the name but I'll be there, probably sharing a blanket with a homeless guy", despite the situation Adam chuckled and managed to hear Toby guffaw. Knowing he could trust Toby to find him, Adam hung the phone back up. The duffel bag lying at his feet was all he had until he got to Toby's ; a few pairs of underwear, a spare sock or two and a t-shirt. Before staying at the nearby hostel he had had a roll of cash too but someone had stolen it while he slept.

Adam threw the bag over his shoulder and began walking. The bus station wasn't far but walking alone often left a person to dwell on forgotten thoughts. He hadn't seen Toby in over a year, since he'd left reform school to go back to Rosewood. It wasn't until a month ago that Adam graduated early that he remembered his old friend. During his stay in the Institute Toby had been broody and unwilling to participate in any activity. Some of the other kids had taken to calling him Pyro and bomber in jest but Adam always saw Toby clenched fists and twitching jaw. He'd quickly befriended the guy who had blinded his own sister but they'd lost contact after Toby moved home.

When he saw the bus station, he began to jog. The bag hit against his hip roughly slowing him down slightly. A young woman in her mid twenties sat on the only bench outside the station so Adam leaned against the building, attempting to look non threatening but his dark complexion and clothing often made people feel anxious around him. "So, nice weather huh?" Adam drawled. The woman glanced up from her phone, alarmed at the interaction making him regret the comment. Luckily, Toby's truck pulled up and flashed the lights at him. "Well that's my ride. Um, goodbye?".

Adam leapt into Toby's pick up truck enthusiastically, grinning from ear to ear at his friend. "Toby, how've you been mate?"

"Let's not talk about me. Tell me everything that's happened"
