As Angela walked back to Tony's room and looked through the door she saw he was asleep. She didn't want to wake him so she quietly whispered "I love you too".
When Tony heard this he sat bolt upright in bed. "What did you say?" he asked thinking he heard her wrong. "I um it's nothing nevermind." Angela stammered. She could have sworn he was asleep. "C'mon Angela fess up what did you say" Tony asked trying to drag it out of her again.
"Tony do you remember what you said last night before they wheeled you into surgery?" Angela asked him. Tony took a deep breath and answered "Yes Angela I told you I loved you." There he had said it. He had finally admitted out loud when he was fully awake and coherent, that he loved her. The only problem was, did he hear her right? Did she love him back?
"Well Tony I said I loved you too. I guess we have feelings for each other."
"Yeah Angela I guess we do. Do you think we should act on those feelings? Should we start dating? Should we pretend this never happened?"
"Tony I've wanted to tell you that since you walked into my house three years ago! Of corse we should start dating. And I love you more than I have ever loved anyone."
"Same here Angela, same here."
Angela leaned over Tony's bed and kissed him on the lips.
She walked to the door and heard him say as she left "I love you."
"I love you too Tony" she whispered into the room "and I always will" she said barely audiable as she walked away.
