A/N: I haven't written this much in a year. So here's another song fic. This time it's to "Girl With the Red Balloon" by The Civil Wars. I'm listening to them on repeat as I write these. I hope you like it. This is in Nick's POV.

There's a pub on the south side of town. Time stands still while there's still wine around.

I remember this little place we would always go to. It was a little pub. We were too young to go in, but we always would sit outside and the owner would bring us "wine". Time would stand still just sitting there with her.

She's the one you let in out of the cold, the one who's always and never alone. Did she let him go or did the four winds blow him away?

She was the first person to let me in. I melted the ice around her heart. She's the girl that is always alone but has tons of people surrounding her. I don't know why she let me go, sometimes I wonder if the wind just blew me away instead.

Does she even know she's the girl with the red balloon? Keep her glass full of cheap champagne. She will tell of the man with no name. Smoke and mirrors have done her in. She's in love and she won't be again.

She's the girl. She's the girl with the red balloon but she doesn't even realize it. She's lost herself and has no idea who she is anymore. The "wine" has been replaced with cheap champagne and it's always full. I still go to the pub sometimes and the owner says that she talks about me, says that I'm the man with no name. This whole façade that she's put on with him, it's gone on for too long. But it's too late. The smoke and mirror of their relationship have done her in and now they're engaged. She thinks she's in love and that she never will be again.

Did she let him go or did the four winds blow him away? Does she even know she's the girl with the red balloon?

But she let me go. She released me and then had the wind blow me away. She's the girl with the red balloon except she doesn't know it. She can't even recognize herself anymore

So lovely, So lonely, Floating away.

She's so lovely but so lonely. She's floating away. She's floating away with the red balloon.

Did she let him go or did the four winds blow him away? Does she even know? Did she let him go, did the four winds blow him away? Does she even know she's the girl, she's the girl with the red balloon?

She let me go and the winds blew me away. She doesn't know, though. She doesn't know that she was the one that let me go. She thinks the wind blew me away, but it only finished the job that she had started. She's the one. She's the girl with the red balloon, but she doesn't know it. She doesn't know she's the girl with the red balloon.
