Chapter 1 – Roger's Clock
As the members of the Japanese Task Force surrounded the desktop computer in front of L, they were all alarmed by crashing coming from the speaker, "What's wrong, Watari?!" L said cautiously, merely standing up in his unusual sitting position, "Watari?" He repeated as thoughts raced through his mind. Watari could barely reach the red button on the top right corner of his keyboard, his heart was pounding with an immense pain in his chest while his body trembled, next thing he knew he had finally reached the square button which seemed to take ages to reach. Immediately the computer screens flashed on the words, "All data deleted", those were the three simple words that locked on everyone's screens in the Japanese Task Force. Watari, Quillsh Wammy was dead. Of course Light knew what was going on, but he still questioned so innocently, "Data deleted? W-what's going on?" L was overwhelmed and prepared to do what he ought to do, explain as calmly as possible. "I had told Watari that if anything were to happen to him, he would erase as much data as possible." That had triggered Matsuda and Mogi, "If anything were to happen to him..." Matsuda repeated with a puzzled look, "As in death you mean?" Mogi added, L paused and hesitated to answer as they suspected correctly, before he could respond, half of them asked while the other half had became aware, "Where's the Shinigami?" She was gone and out of sight.
Not too far in another room Rem was prepared to write Ryuzaki's (L) name in her Death Note and eliminate him for Light. She thought of Misa, and that doing this will let her be happy by spending the rest of her life with Light. L thought of the first thing, nobody is aware of what Watari's true name is, and second that Misa has never seen his face before, since he suspects her and Light. In that final moment he took a slight breath to begin talking while having a small spoon in his index and thumb, "Everyone the Shiniga-" He stopped instantly and his fingers dropped the spoon, his body fell from the chair. Light watched narrow eyed with a sadistic smirk on his face, which he knew no person would see since they all had their eyes on Ryuzaki's collapsed body which would meet with the floor any second. He snapped back into reality and created a shocked face, there was a crash of the rolling chair, Ryuzaki's metal spoon fell and created a tinkle. His heart stopped beating as he thought his last thought, "Light Yagami...I knew it, I wasn't wrong...I-" Then silence.
Back at Wammy's House, Roger's clock struck zero, L was dead.
