Second Sun

In there, a single moment,

Ignoring problems of the world.

Standing in blissful ignorance,

Of the carnage to unfurl.

Living the dream of simple life,

A dream that had come true.

And then we see spears in the clouds,

Points of light coming through.

First the fire, but no flood,

The earth begins to heave.

Across the land and through the air,

Nuclear fire weaves.

No time to breathe, no time to flee,

No time to even mourn.

As the fire closes around,

A second sun is born.
