Title: Missing
Author: SKF
Rating: PG
Word Count: 229 drabble
Pairing: No pairing really. ZackxCloud and ZackxAeris if you squint, I suppose.
Note: Obviously not doing my homework. Obviously need to take better drugs if this came out. Aeris is going to be Aeris as it was in FFVII, because, FFVII fic. Duh.
Written for Aly, who wanted the words, "Suck it up, kiddo," And post!death Zack. ;; First FFVII fic, too, haven't even played the game 3 hours yet, so I'm just basing it off of prior knowledge.
Disclaimer: Don't own. I suck like that.

It was funny, Cloud mused, stretching one hand up to the sky to look at the way the sunlight filtered through his fingers and hit the ground. Not really funny-funny, but sometimes it was all he could do-laugh, because if he didn't he was afraid he'd sink down against the wall and want to cry. He could remember some vague things, sometimes, if he didn't think too hard; it just came to him in little fractured pieces.
Sometimes, he thought he could see them, Aeris with her hands clasped in front of her, that pink dress, Zack and his easy smile and two-fingered mock salute. Sometimes he could feel Aeris with her arms wrapped around him and Zack's large hand on his shoulder, breath ghosting over his ear as he murmured, "Suck it up, kiddo," because it's exactly the kind of thing Zack would do. He wouldn't let Cloud sit around and mope like he was currently and come to think of it, neither would Aeris.
"Suck it up, kiddo."
Cloud sighed heavily, fingers closing in a tight fist as he examined the leather of his gloves absently, twisting and turning his hand, watching the fading sunlight play off of one of the metal buckles. He missed them both, terribly, but maybe it was time to start living in the present and stop listening to ghosts all the time.
