"Dawn, we've been up here for hours," May whined, clawing at the bluenette's pink coat. Icy winds blew up in the two girls' faces, taking every bit of breath away from May.
"So?" Dawn shrugged and turned to face May, arms crossed. "We came up here to look for pokemon, and so Glaceon and Mamoswine could have a breather. 'Sides, it's not that cold!" Dawn tossed her gloved hands up behind her head, tapping one booted foot in the snow.
May shivered and glared, gritted teeth chattering. "H-how can you say it's not c-c-c-COLD?!" Out of all the crazy things Dawn had said, this had to be the craziest. "I love you and a-all, but we need to take some'a the S-Sinnoh outta you!"
Just as Dawn was about to respond, they heard a mewl. The two girls looked toward the cave entrance to Lanakila only to see a nearly solid white Vulpix. "Look at it!" Dawn squealed, hopping through the snow toward the pokemon. She yanked a pokeball off her belt and tossed it, calling out Piplup.
"W-wait, Dawn!" May called, running after her. "I don't think Piplup's gonna work!"
"What're you talking about?" Dawn questioned. "No matter the color, a Vulpix is a Vulpix!" she exclaimed before commanding Piplup with a "Bubblebeam!"
Piplup shot off a string of bubbles towards the Vulpix, who hopped in the air quickly and fired off Powder Snow, which froze Piplup in a block of ice.
"Wha-how?!"
"I told you!" May said. "Try Quilava!"
"Right!" Dawn returned her partner and called out the fire type. "Quilava, Flamethrower!"
The move was a direct hit, and Dawn hurriedly tossed a pokeball at the bizarre Vulpix. One knock, two, three, and a ding later, Vulpix was Dawn's.
"G-Great," May started, "Now can we please head back to town?!"
Once at the Pokemon Center, the girls headed to their room to thaw out. May let out her Blaziken, who sat with her and helped warm her back up. "Ah, it feels so good to know my toes are still there!" May joked. When she didn't get a response from Dawn, she turned her head to see what was going on.
Dawn laid on her bed with Vulpix's pokeball in her hand and her pokédex in the other.
May snickered and got up, slumping over to Dawn's bed and curling up beside her. "What's going on in that pretty little head, Dawn?"
"I just wanna know what's wrong with this Vulpix," Dawn mumbled. "Ah, there it is!" The dex read out the entry, which detailed how Vulpix was an ice type. "It's supposed to be like this?" Dawn questioned, brow furrowed. She peeked back down at the pokeball, which May took from her.
"That's so cool!" May said. "It's like the Rattata and Grimer we saw last week!"
Dawn snatched the ball back and sat up on her bed, grin on her face. She snickered and held the ball away from May as she teased. "Well I'm glad I was the one to catch such a rare pokemon, then. Vulpix will be awesome in contests!"
May's face dropped, and she pounced for Dawn's hand. "No fair! I want a cool Alolan Variant too! Dawwwwwn!"
"No way, Vulpix is mine!" Dawn said through her laughter. "You can have one of those Persians!"
"Dawn that's so mean!" May whined. "I'll give you kisses if you share!"
Well, when May made such an irresistable offer, Dawn just had to let her help train the ice type. That is, until May caught a Fomantis, and the whole cycle started over again. This is why you shouldn't take your girlfriend to Alola with you.
I will take suggestions. They can be for anything: pairings, friendships, rivals, etc.
