Summary: Nothing is new between the two arch-enemies. They were sent out for a mission to get the Innocence. Kanda made a fatal mistake and soon live to regret it. Now he seeks repentance from his secret crush, Allen.
Author's Note
So yeah, this is a rewrite for this story, the Withering Lotus Flower. I've recently gotten into the habit of writing again. I stopped because of my personal issues in life, but I refuse to give up on my fanfic stories without an ending at least. Hence, the rewrite. For those who has only read it recently, welcome. For those who have been waiting, I thank you for your patience.
Prologue:
"I wish I can see it. The ground that has been carpeted with endless number of lotus and petals. Maybe if we can see it together someday.."
"Promise? Even if we were to become old like grandpa and grandma?"
"Yes I promise, no matter what."
The man jolts awake and sits up on his bed. His pajamas is covered with sweat. He groans as he wipe his sweat off his face. That dream again. He thinks to himself. Lately, I have been having the same dream over and over again. He can't help but think of it as a bad feeling. He shrugs it off and gets off the bed. Removing his clothes and entering the showers. He touches his tattoo unknowingly that is located on the left side of his chest, thinking to himself as the water touches his face and rinsing his raven midnight hair that touches his back.
Ever since he has awaken from the Second Exorcist Project a decade ago, he still has no clues regarding the person he seeks despite the amount of missions he has been dispatched out to. Maybe she is already dead…
"Kanda, are you awake yet?" The knock on his door interrupted his mind of thoughts. He grunts at the familiar, annoying cheering voice. Kanda opens the door and stare the person in front of him with midnight eyes that are as deep as the darkness at night.
"What do you want, Moyashi?" Kanda asks with annoyance, secretly enjoying the small annoying frown from the other person. He has silverish-grey eyes with hair that is as white as snow. He would have been a beautiful young man if it wasn't for the fact that the scar on the left side of his face is clearly shown, to prove how much the boy has gone through in his life. Kanda doesn't understand why this boy still choose to smile, even though he can tell how fake the smile is.
"It's Allen, BaKanda." Allen replies with a snort. "Komui has a mission for the both of us. Oh, the joy." He says it sarcastically. "He wants the both of us to be there for a briefing after we have our breakfast." With that, Allen walks away, towards the cafeteria. Probably to have breakfast with his friends. Kanda follow him on a slow pace, seeing how he doesn't want to be close to the teen and they are heading towards the same destination.
"Greetings, Allen and Kanda. Please, have a seat." Komui offers them while he's trying to find his report under the stacks and piles of papers in his office. Of course, like a pair of two rivals, they sit far away from each other on the same couch. "There, found it. There's a weird case brought to us from the construction company in England. A land has been acquired by a subject of Queen Elizabeth and they were assigned to destroy the abandoned mansion in the area. However, the stray animals that were occupying the place is defending the mansion rather...aggressively."
"What do they do? They're just a bunch of animals." Kanda asked, annoyed by the fact that the case is rather simple and normal people can't even handle the job.
"These stray animals are really nice to the civilians who live nearby. They have never shown any aggressive attitude ever. However, when the people approach the abandoned mansion as I have stated, they reacted negatively and does all sorts of things to get the people away from the mansion. Be it stealing their belongings so the people can chase after them, or biting them to make the people stay away from the building. We suspect there could be akuma nest, or an Innocence could be the cause of these animals' has also been high rates of akuma being sighted in the area so I would like the two of you to investigate it."
"Why him though?" The two Exorcists point at each other, having a death glaring contest at each other. Komui chuckles silently.
"The others are busy with their own missions. And we can't possibly send out our Generals in case a Level 4 akuma appears again. And, the only available Exorcists that we have are you two. Kanda, your Innocence has only been repaired recently. And Allen, your body has only recovered a while ago like Kanda's Innocence. So I need you two to take care of each other. Alright?" Komui smiles creepily, effectively silencing the two of them. "Wonderful! I shall arrange the two of you to leave by train now. Have a good journey!"
On the train:
Allen is catching on his nap, seeing that it's a long trip to London, while Kanda is looking out of the window, silently admiring the view outside, before turning to look at the boy sleeping in front of him. The sun shining through the window makes Allen more beautiful. His hair shines brighter, making him look like an angel. Luckily for Kanda, he has a great amount of restraint to not jump on the boy. It seems that he's not putting on a mask on his face and he seems to be sleeping peacefully. Don't get him wrong, but Kanda is a gentleman. But he'll kill himself if he were to cover Allen with his jacket and being seen by someone. So he stays at his seat, and watching Allen sleeping. Sadly, he is not like his General, who is good at drawing. But, he will be sure to capture this moment, carved forever in his mind. Even though he has been dispatched a certain amount of times with the Exorcist, he never fails to notice the simple things that would make Allen happy or what would define him. One day, I will confess to him. Maybe after I have found her.
In England, London:
"Greetings, Allen and Kanda. I'm the Finder that has been assigned to this case." The man approaches them once the train has stopped and they walk out of the train.
"Has everything been arranged?" Allen asks nicely while Kanda stands behind him silently. He has never been the social one amongst the others.
"Yes, the hotel venue and food has been arranged. Would you like to have supper first before we head off for the investigation?" The Finder asks nicely, but Allen's stomach does the answering. He chuckles before leading them to the hotel with Allen's embarrassment showing clearly on his face.
Outside of the area they've supposed to be investigating:
"This is the area." The Finder said, as he stands in front of the old gates. The three of them can see how the cats and dogs are uniting as one, standing threateningly at the intruders.
"I wonder it's possible to sneak through them." Allen wonders to himself.
"Why couldn't they just get the pest control?" Kanda states as Allen looks at him disapprovingly.
"I don't think anyone can do that." The Finder replies as he turns on his golem to play a video clip. "There's a barrier surrounding the mansion and the furthest that the people and I can go is the garden yard which is in front of the mansion's entrance. There's another video here where akuma attacked some of the residents in this mansion."
As Allen and Kanda watch the clip, they were slightly surprised. As the cat was infected by the akuma virus, the star symptoms disappear as soon as it were appeared, as if the cat has been cleansed fully from the virus.
"Is the cat an Innocence Accommodator?" Allen asks.
"I don't think so, Allen." The Finder replies as he plays another clip, showing the similar situation happening to the other animals. "If anything, I think it's the mansion that is protecting them. Or maybe, there's a person located inside."
"We will proceed ahead and check the place out then." Allen thanks the Finder before assigning him to distract the animals while both of the Exorcists sneak in by the side of the yard to enter the mansion.
"Now let's see what we can find in here."
That's it for chapter 1. I promise I'll start writing more when I have the chance. And this is slightly different from the original plot that I have for this story. But in advance, this will be tyki x allen. Anddddd let's just say Allen is different. I shall not reveal too much, all will be known in time. But for now, I shall leave that to your imagination.
