He should have been hers.
She had always loved him. His auburn curls and emerald eyes and innocent smile. Through childhood, teens and tweens, she had loved him.
Even when he'd gone, left with his cousins to travel lands she didn't even know existed, she still believed he'd return, and marry her.
And when he had returned home, he'd barely spoken to her before he was leaving again, to stay at Crickhollow with that Brandybuck cousin of his. When people told her it was no use, she still believed.
Until the day he announced it all. That he wasn't marrying, at least, not her. That he wasn't taking a wife. That he was going to live out his days with Merry by his side. Not her. Not Diamond.
He should have been hers.
The words flew round her head, as she brushed her hair, tidied her dress, and joined the crowd assembled outside. Words still in her mind, she watched as her love stand under thesun and clouds and trees and pledge his life to his cousin. Pippin Took pledge his life to Merry Brandybuck.
He should have been hers.
Well, I've put Merry and Pippin through enough. So, I made then a happy ending. Just pretend, if you will, that them to marrying is normal, or at least accepted. Ta. Improvement are welcome, as I'm not really happy with the ending.
And this took... well, I listened to 'Champagne Supernova' 7 times while I wrote it, os that's how long :)
Please review and I own nothing.
