The pale moonlight shining in from the bedroom window was the only comfort Naruto found on this lonely night. His saddened blue gaze kept flickering slowly from his sleeping lover to the moon outside. No matter how hard he tried, Naruto just couldn't figure some things out.

There was mainly one question that Naruto had his mind on lately, the one that brought him the most pain. Naruto wondered why the jerks of the world always treated him and Sasuke as if they were some sort of monsters or aliens. No matter how hard Naruto tried, most people just wrote him off the moment they laid eyes on them.

Sasuke always had an attitude with everyone that gave them any problems, but Naruto had just given up. Instead of arguing with them like his dark-haired partner, Naruto just let people say whatever they wanted.

Having to hear the harsh words that so many people seemed to be okay with was certainly discouraging. While Naruto knew that the problems came from the fact that he and Sasuke were in a same-sex relationship, Naruto couldn't understand why that made so many treat them so cruelly. Why did their gender have anything to do with their love? Naruto couldn't understand. Naruto had mulled over the question countless times, but the more he thought about it, the more it hurt him. He loved Sasuke regardless of what anyone else could say.

With a heavy heart, Naruto slid back down between the sheets. As he snuggled closer to Sasuke, the Uchiha wrapped his arms around Naruto's familiar body.

"I didn't think you were ever going to go to sleep." Sasuke muttered sleepily. "You need to stop worrying about simple shit like that. People don't give two fucks. Who needs them? We're better off on our own."

Naruto chuckled, his eyes still dark. He didn't really believe Sasuke, but for now, he would try to get some sleep. "Night, Sasuke."

"Night."
