"What the hell was that Sara?" Gil Grissom asked his girl friend who had just finished obviously flirting with a new lab tech.

Faking innocence she asked, "What are you talking about Gilbert?" Smiling sweetly at her lover who by, then she knew was very angry.

He began pacing and his voice grew louder with each word, "What am I talking…What am I talking about… I'm talking about you making (come here lover boy eyes) at that kid?"

Standing there in her regular jeans and nice dress shirt she looked at him, "Are you completely out of your mind?" She asked equally loud. It was then they were both thankful that his office door was closed.

Now she was getting angry, " How can you think I would…" She couldn't finish the thought, because the idea was so ridiculous. "Oh uh no we are not doing this… have fun sleeping on the couch tonight Griss.." Sara said. Opening the door the echo of the slam shook the office.

The rest of the day they avoided each other. They did it very well. Well that was until they had to go home. They drove to and from work separately. It cut down on suspicions and gave them some solitude, today was a day where they needed it. Grissom was still angry on his drive home. In fact the same could be said for Sara.

They got home seemingly at the same time, though by their routines no one would've known that they liked each other; loving each other not - withstanding. Grissom decided to spend his time in his home-office. He came to realize he was no longer angry, just a little pissed at himself. He wanted to go to her, tell her he was sorry for being an idiot, but thought the best thing he could do for her was serve his penance. Which in this case was sleeping on the couch.

They ate dinner together, though they did not utter a word to each other. Deep in his heart Gilbert Grissom knew Sara would never cheat on him or leave him. He also knew that he was not a young man anymore, although Sara had told him repeatedly age was just a number he still could not stand to watch her flirting with younger men.

Later that morning Grissom went to a hall closet, pulling out a pillow and blanket he sighed as he headed for the couch. The couch in- itself was not uncomfortable, Grissom found it hard to sleep and he knew why? Sara wasn't beside him.

The night had come early for him, but he left before Sara came out of the bedroom. Work was mundane at best, he stayed in his office most of the shift. To his surprise he heard a knock at the door as he was putting his thing away, " Sara…" He said not hiding his shock.

"Can I come in?" She asked. He loved the sparkle her brown eyes held, but tonight was different; tonight her eyes were bleak with sadness.

Wordlessly he took her hand and let her to the his (reading chair). " Sara honey I-"

"Gill no I'm sorry.. I do understand why you were angry, but you have to know that you are IT for me." Sara told him, lacing her fingers through his.

Grissom sighed deeply, "I do know that, Sara. I do, but I- you could have so much more.. than this.." He told her sounding defeated.

Placing her hands on both sides of his face she looked into his eyes, " I don't need more.. why would I? when I've got you."
