Hey peeps!! I'm back with another one shot! Sorry I haven't been updating. I just got on Christmas break yesterday, so I will be updating a lot more now. My Christmas break is 2 months long, so hopefully I can finish "A Garmadon Family Christmas" and "We're Not so Different", and quite possibly "A Road to Recovery" and "Jaylynn's Tragic Past". Also, this might be my only update today. I'm with a friend I haven't seen in forever, since she goes to Sachse Highschool now instead of our homeschool group :( The only reason I'm updating is because she isn't awake yet.

Anyway, I was debating on whether or not to post this on here, but I decided to anyway. This is a story I wrote on my computer when I was grounded from things... (those things included FanFiction). It's about two of my OC's. Enjoy!

Songfic "Hello" by MorroAndJaylynn

Oneshot ship; Life (Jaylynn x Riley)

~Hello~

Jaylynn Walker-Garmadon was at the kitchen table going through her voicemail, since all her students were training independently. The first voicemail was from her insurance company.

Delete

The second was from one of her younger brothers, Lavender.

Delete

The third was from her mother.

SO delete

The fourth was from her ex-husband.

Delete? No…

She knew she should ignore it, but she decided to listen to it, being the curious young lady she was.

She pressed the play button, and this is what it said:

'Hey, JayJayPie… I miss you. Nathanial and I both do. Call me back whenever you can.'

"Stupid Riley." Jaylynn mumbled, as she deleted the message.

The next voicemail was from Riley again. She listened to it.

'Jaylynn, I know you may hate me now, but please consider calling me.'

FREAKING DELETE

She sighed when she saw the next one was from Riley, again.

'Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet to go over everything. They say that time's supposed to heal ya, but I ait done much healing…. So please call.'

She slightly smiled at the fact her ex still cared for her. Oh, how she missed his cheery English accent singing to her… What was she thinking?

Delete

The next was from Riley. "Of course." She muttered, as she pressed play.

'Hello, can you hear me? I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be when we were younger, and free. I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet. There's such a difference between us, and a million miles.'

Somehow, Jaylynn felt like she should keep the message. Next one.

'Hello from the other side. I must've called a thousand times to tell you, I'm sorry for everything that I've done, but when I call you never seem to be home.'

By now, Jaylynn was trying as hard as she could to keep back her tears. She couldn't risk one of her students seeing her cry and fetching her brother, Lloyd, to soothe her.

She listened to the next one.

'Hello from the outside. At least I can say that I've tried to tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart, but it don't matter; it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore…. Jaylynn, please please please call me.'

She sighed and called him.

'Riley Henderson is not available at this time. At the tone, please record your message. When complete, press (random button) *BEEEEEEEPPPPPPP*'

Jaylynn sighed. "Hello, how are you? It's so typical of me to talk about myself… I'm sorry. I hope that you're well. Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened?" she paused for a moment. "It's no secret that the both of us are running out of time." She ended her message, and put her phone away.

She walked outside to check on her students.

In California, Riley was making tea for his son, Nathanial. "Father?" asked Nathanial. "Yes?" Riley turned to his British son. "Someone tried to call you." Nathanial said in a low voice. "Who was it?" Riley asked. "I dunno, but the contact was shown as 'Meh Ex-wifeee (insert heart emoji, smiley face and winkey face emoji. Ffn won't allow them) '" Riley jumped up. He quickly snatched his phone from Nathanial. "Ahem, father… manners?" Nathanial had a hand on his hip. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever, Nathan. Have more tea and crumpets." Riley waved him off. Nathan took this as a high offence, but left nonetheless.

Riley listened to the voicemail, and tried to call Jaylynn. His eyes glistened with tears, and his smile faded when Jaylynn did not respond. He left her a message, in hope that she would call back.

Jaylynn was teaching her niece and nephew how to properly hold a katana, when suddenly, Riley called her. "LLOYD!" Jaylynn shouted. In a flash, her blonde-haired younger brother was there. "Please help your children. I'll be back in a few minutes." Lloyd nodded in reply, and helped his children, Laurence and Lydia, to properly hold their katana.

By the time Jaylynn was inside, she had missed the call. She listened to the voicemail Riley had left her.

'Hello from the other side. I must've called a thousand times to tell you, I'm sorry for everything that I've done, but when I call you never seem to be home.'

Jaylynn sighed and called Riley. "You've reached Riley Henderson's iPhone. Riley Henderson is not available at the time… so…" There was a snicker. "Oh my gosh, Riley! Why did I even bother calling you back?!?" Jaylynn hung up and cried from her rage.

"Sensei?" a young girl was peering around the corner. Jaylynn did not respond, but turned away. "Sensei, are you ok?" the girl asked. "I'm fine, Clairissa May." Responded Jaylynn. Clairissa May sighed and walked away.

"Father, that was senseless." Nathan stated. Riley sighed. "I realize now, my son, why she never talks to me." Nathan nodded in agreement. "Father, I'm gonna be honest with you; you're hectic." Riley sighed. "Thank you, my son, for the information I already knew," he looked at his son with sincerity. "But I'm not one to give up." He called again.

Jaylynn was completely aware that her phone was ringing. She let it keep ringing. After a few moments, she opened her voicemail.

'Hello from the outside. At least I can say that I've tried to tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart, but it don't matter; it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore…. Jaylynn, please call me. I really am sorry for my hectic behavior'

Jaylynn deleted the message. She went upstairs to her room and cried herself to sleep.

That night, Riley left California to go back to England with Nathanial. He knew there was no hope that Jaylynn would come back for him. He even stayed in her very neighborhood for two months, hoping she'd discover his presence and forgive him.

An hour after they boarded the aircraft, Nathan fell asleep with his head resting upon Riley's shoulder. He dared not move… He decided he'd give one more shot at calling Jaylynn back.

This time, she responded.

"Jaylynn, i-"

"Riley…. Hello from the other side. I know you've called a thousand times to tell me you're sorry for everything that you've done, but when you call I never seem to be home. Hello from the outside. At least I know that you've tried to tell me you're sorry for everything that you've done and yes, it matters… Riley, I'm torn by this every day. I'm so sorry that I lost my patience earlier…"

"Jaylynn, I was in your neighborhood for two months in hope you'd find me. I'm headed to London with Nathan, because I didn't think you cared anymore." Whispered Riley. "Riley, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." Jaylynn begged. "Only if you forgive me." "I do, Riley." "Then I forgive you, too, Lynn." Riley smiled. "I miss you. I'll call you tomorrow, ok?" asked Jaylynn. "Ok. Bye." Riley hung up smiling. His compassion had finally won over Jaylynn. He now knew that no matter how stubborn Jaylynn was, they'd always forgive each other in the end.

Jaylynn went to sleep that night on a thought. How come Riley never gave up on her? They had not seen each other in 20 years. They last saw each other when Jaylynn was 22. That was when Nathanial was born. Riley took custody of Nathan after he was born, and Jaylynn only ever got to hold her son once. But Riley still never gave up. Though Jaylynn never answered, Riley still called. Though Jaylynn said rude things to him, Riley still called. This confused Jaylynn on many levels. Then something else struck. Riley had said he AND Nathanial missed her. Nathanial had never met her before. As stated before, last Jaylynn saw Nathanial was the day he was born. This meant that Riley had been telling Nathan about her. This warmed her heart.

She was able to sleep peacefully with the knowledge that Riley still loved her. Maybe, just maybe, she still loved him too.

The moral of this story is that no matter how rough things may be, there's always a silver lining. Even if it seems like you will never be loved or forgiven, there will come a day where you will be forgiven and the light will return to your life.
