A/N: this is me second poem. I got this idea when I remembered one of the
woods from LOTR and how it sorta related to the Forbidden Forest. Brownie
points if you review and tell me which forest from LOTR it is!!!
The Forbidden Forest
All trees have a heart
An inner core
That shows what kind of life
Those trees have bore.
You mostly see the happy trees
Between which roads make their ways,
And the sunlight and the breeze make
Their supple branches sway;
Or the serious trees
The evergreens that always stand up tall;
Their closeness in the woods make them
Pretty hard to fall;
Sometimes you see the paternal trees,
The Mahogany, Oak, and Willow,
Their caressing branches and leaves
Feel to travelers soft as a pillow
All these trees
Are full of life,
Waiting to take you
And destroy your strife.
But in the Forbidden Forest...
Mist hangs like a cloak
Hugging the trunks of the trees
While through the tops no sunlight penetrates
That the traveler's eye may see.
The trees themselves have hearts that are
Dank and rotting in the gloom,
While the wind's icy breath brings about
Whispers of the doom.
In the black night,
When all is dark,
You may hear creatures
Scratch against the bark
You can turn around,
But there won't have been
Anything there...unless who it is
Wants to be seen.
As you leave the Forest,
The trees utter threats of death
Promising to kill
With their poisonous breath,
Their muttterings stay with you
When you eat, drink, and lie,
Even until
The day you die
And the trees keep growing
Full of malice and spite
Promising to fill
The world with fright.
They say that a tree
Is not born good or bad,
Then why in the Forest
Is Evil a fad?
Did Dark find the forest
Before the Light?
Were the trees betrayed,
So joined the Night?
We do not know,
But the mist draws tighter;
Go find them now
To make their hearts lighter.
