"Why do girls like fairytales so much?"

Elena didn't bother to look up from the book she was reading as she remained sprawled over the length of the sofa in the Boarding House. "You aren't a girl so I doubt you'll understand."

"I know that fairytales create fantasies for children… but Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?" Damon easily lifted her legs from the sofa, sitting down and placing her legs on his laps. "There are no real dwarfs."

"What do you call the people who are shorter than normal?" The brunette asked, arching an eyebrow at him. "A fairytale is a fantasy… just like vampires are supposedly."

He made a face at his girlfriend. "You know what I mean. Besides, I doubt you'd openly call someone incredibly short a dwarf, Elena."

"Point taken." Elena rolled her eyes good naturedly as she tried to continue reading her book. "Fairytales make girls believe in love and happiness and friendship. Besides, the princes are hot."

"You find the Beast hot?"

She scowled at her boyfriend. "You are so annoying."

"Like what you said, I'm not a girl so I really won't understand." He raised his hands in defense. "But I really am curious… What makes you like those Disney fairytales?"

Elena paused in thought, closing her book and setting it aside. "I like Cinderella because she shows that love always finds a way. Her stepmother locked her up when the time to fit the glass slipper came, you know."

Damon stretched his long legs, setting them on the coffee table at the center of the living room. "I doubt you'll find yourself a bunch of talking mice."

"That's not really the point." She hit him not so kindly with one of her feet on his lap. "I like Snow White because she was able to change the dwarfs for the better."

He really just had to smile at that. "Just like what you did for me?"

"There's nothing wrong with you, Damon. I know the cold hearted, snarky guy thing was all a façade you were trying so hard to build… I fell in love with you for who you are." Elena blushed at her own words. "I like Little Mermaid because it taught me that when two people are meant to be, nothing's impossible."

His smile grew wider, remembering how they braved through their problems… also known as his brooding brother, Klaus, and Katherine. They really did everything they could to protect their relationship. "And how about Beauty and the Beast?"

"Love is beyond what is external."

Damon arched an incredulous eyebrow. "So you mean to tell me that you didn't start liking me 'cause you found me hot?"

"You're so full of it." She took a nearby cushion and threw it at his head, scowling when he smoothly caught it in his hand. "I like Sleeping Beauty because I learned that we're each meant for someone."

"We are meant for each other." The jet black haired vampire pointed out, causing her to roll her eyes good naturedly once more. "How about Mulan? The Chinese one?"

"It's the same as Pocahontas and Aladdin." Elena crossed her legs on his lap. "Loving despite differences."

He grinned, reaching out to effortlessly lift his girlfriend from the sofa and settled her on his lap. "I never knew fairytales could be philosophical."

Her shoulders lifted in a nonchalant shrug. "Maybe it's just me."

"Isn't there another one? The one we watched in the movies the other time?" Damon wrapped his arms around her slim frame.

She paused thoughtfully. "The Princess and The Frog?"

"Yeah, that one." Damon nodded ass he rested his head on her shoulder. "I remember you telling me that there are nine of them."

"Oh, I learned never to kiss a frog."

"You've got to be kidding me."

"What?"

"So much for being philosophical."
