Hey guys. First of all, I'm so sorry about the wait for my story the Surgeon and Survivor, but I'm sick with a viral thing. That's what you get when you love someone who's acting like the Ice Queen, right? You get a cold.
Anyway, I'm writing one, I promise. I have the doctor now, but I thought I could write this little one because I'm in love with Valkubus.
How I wanted this to go.
Bo appraised the woman. Torn robes fluttered with the movement of her staff, and blue lips puckered.
"Okay. I've got one." Bo grinned, before she crossed her arms. Her smile faded slightly, each line of the succubae's riddle too close to her heart for comfort.
"She is brilliant, he is strong. Her life is little, his life is long."
Dust scattered around the toe of Bo's boot as she scuffed it. Levi shifted her grip on her staff as her eyes raked the Succubus' face for any sign of deception. Bo raised her eyes from the floor to meet the spirit's gaze.
"Both loves are pure, both loves are true. If you were I, who would you choose?"
Levi looked unsettled, switching her eyes around the cavern. "Choose? I...I don't understand.."
Bo sighed heavily, rolling her eyes back in her skull. "Yeah, choose. Like a choice?"
Levi gathered her robes around her frame and faced Bo. After some deliberation, delight flashed across old and haggard features.
"The man." Levi said, with a flourish. "He will live longer."
"Final answer?" Bo asked, smirking as she dropped her arms.
Uncertainty.
"No. Wait. Um..ah... The woman. Yes, you love her..you wear her humanity like a shield!" Levi trilled, seemingly excited she had found the answer.
Confidence.
"So we're sticking with the woman, Levi?"
"No! Wait!" Bo's constant questions were unsettling the spirit, chopping and changing her decisions. Levi stepped forward, half triumphant but still wary.
"The man. You crave strength. The man, I answer the man."
Arrogance.
Bo's smirk grew in diameter, and her eyes glittered a dull brown.
She shook her head slowly, and gently, relishing Levi's disdain.
"Was it the woman? I must know!"
The succubus laughed, drawing in air between her teeth.
"You know Levi, I used to think it was. The woman was beautiful, a genius, she made me feel human, yes. I also used to believe it was the man, who made me feel alive. Dangerous, but protected."
Levi showed her confusion, shuffling forward, paying no heed to the bone she kicked out of the way.
"Used to? Then who? Tell me, I must have the truth!" Her shrill voice echoed around the dingy cave.
"Levi, I loved how each of them made me feel different things, but they were never enough. The could never compare..."
Bo trailed off, looking into middle-distance. A small smile drew back her cheeks, and her aura began to increase. She snapped back to reality with a pang, and licked her lower lip. It only took a few strides to be almost breathing the same air as the spirit.
The succubus laid a hand on the staff that Levi carried, and as her body began to disappear, she gave her the answer that the ragged woman craved.
"They could never compare. So I chose the Valkyrie."
