"What are you waiting for?" asked Adric, watching. "Go after her."

The Doctor shook his head and burst out the doors, immediately becoming drenched by the pouring rain. He shook his head as he ran along the street, trying to find Tegan.

They'd been arguing again, over a silly little thing. He'd merely remarked that maybe she shouldn't wear that very revealing swimsuit to the beach he was planning on taking them to. Not that she looked bad in it, it was just a bit too… distracting.

Unfortunately he'd forgotten that Earth females in the time period she was from had low self-esteem when it came to their bodies, and that had sparked an angry argument. Tegan had eventually ran out into the town, shocking him into a stupor that was only broken by Adric's remark.

He bit his lip, scanning the area for any sign of her. Finally, as he was about to go on, a flash of deep purple caught his eye. He turned his head and found Tegan. She was leaning against a lamppost on a street corner, head in her hands. He walked towards her, taking tentative steps that echoed against the buildings and heralded his approach.

Tegan broke out of whatever reverie she had been in and watched him approach warily. He stopped within arm's reach of her and opened his mouth to speak.

"You're impossible!" Tegan exclaimed before he could utter a word. "You act so high and mighty it's infuriating. You say I can do what I want, say what I want, dress how I want, but when time comes for you to make good on your promise, you flake out! You're incorrigible, that's what you are, and a total git half the time, and, and-"

He could tell she was about to cry. He didn't like that one bit. Tegan should be happy, or at least a little ticked off, as she usually was. Not sad, and she should never cry. He wanted to stop the tears before they could come.

So he reached out and gently cupped her chin, pulling her slowly closer as he leaned in just as slowly. He almost dreaded what he was about to do, but at the same time he wanted to close the distance as quickly as he could. Her eyes widened slightly, but she made no move to break away.

Then their lips met.

He felt a small shiver run through her body as he kissed her, a simple, sweet kiss. But it didn't feel simple in the slightest. The mental dam that held back the brunt of his emotions groaned as he pulled back, and he was content to lose himself for the moment in her eyes, swirling with mixed emotions.

"Come on," he eventually whispered, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her in close. "You'll catch your death out here."

And so they left, the only witness to what had occurred the lone lamppost on the street corner.

Bloody: Yes! A proper first kiss for them! This was based off a prompt on ImagineYourOTP on Tumblr, and it basically entailed them having an argument, one person running out into the rain, and then they end up kissing under a lamppost. Loved it, and I just had to use it!

Unicorn Plushie: Bloody doesn't own Doctor Who. Or Tumblr. Bye.
