Author's note: Hey all, I'm back! I've decided to start a new project, which is this fic! Now, I know that others have attempted self-inserts (looking at you CrazyCarsFudge), but I've decided to make the insert become a car and reinCARnated (that was intended) in the Cars universe. Yes, as a car. I chose this over humanising the characters as this would be a creative way to do it, having the self-insert as a car.
In case you were wondering about my other stories, I'll continue those after I finish this.
Additionally, the language and grammar used in this fic is Australian English (color as colour, etc).
Enjoy!

DRIVEN:
Chapter 1. Prologue
.
A summer day in '17, Friday, 7PM
.
"Hey, Val! Don't forget tonight's movie! Will pick you up in 30min!"
Kyle "Flare" Flaren, 19, had just texted his girlfriend Valentina Cullen, reminding her of tonight's movie night, one which they had been planning for a while now. Finalising himself, he checked his hair.
Nice and ready to go!
The lights on the garage flicked on to reveal a blue Subaru 22B STI. It was his pride and joy. And an awesome car as well. Climbing into the car and turning the key, the turbocharged engine roared to life. Making sure his seatbelt was on, he rolled out of the garage.
Driving through the evening streets, countless heads turned at the STI. Being a rare and well-known car, he was lucky to own one.
Twenty minutes later, he pulled up to a house with a yellow Honda S2000 parked on the driveway. This was Val's car. He had arrived at her place. Revving the engine, the growl attracted her attention instantly. Wearing skinny jeans and a simple t-shirt, she ran over to the vehicle and climbed in.
"Hey Kyle! Nice to see you!" she piped up.
"Yeah Val, sup. You look nice tonight."
"Thanks Ky," she smiled as reply. "So what's the movie tonight?" she asked as the car drove off.
"Cars 3"
"Awesome! Even though it's a kid's movie and we're adults, we're still kids in our hearts. Things never change."
.
20 minutes later:
The two had arrived at the cinema, gotten their food and rolled into the room. They had bought a large box of popcorn to share, as well as a drink each.
"I wonder what happens in the movie…"
"Shhh! The movie's starting!"
"You kidding? It's the ads!"
"Ahhh! Not the ads!"
.
1 hour and 30 mins later:
"Whew! That was way better than I expected!" Val remarked.
"True. Good moral lesson behind it too."
It was now 9pm.
"So where you wanna go now?"
"Hmm… dinner?"
"Sure." She smiled.
The two clambered into the car and drove away from their parking spot.
"What restaurant?"
"Hmm, let's try the Mountain View Restaurant." He suggested.
"Hell yes!"
The Mountain View Restaurant, well-known for its location in a mountain village and scenic view. It was seated right on the edge of the mountain, giving diners a magnificent view of the surrounding areas.
As it was night, Kyle drove the blue Subaru carefully up the winding mountain roads, fog lights and high beams on.
"Can't wait!" Val shouted.
"Me too! Actually, I'm seriously hungry."
"After all that popcorn?"
"Yeah, that…"
His sentence was cut off by skidding sounds. Around the sharp bend up ahead, a car was careening out of control.
"Oh shi…." Before the car smashed into theirs, launching the Subaru over the barrier and into the mountainous terrain far below.
.
.
"Where am I?"
Kyle came to and looked around. He was surrounded by white light
Am I in heaven?
"You could say that."
Kyle turned around to see a tall woman, about 182cm. She was wearing a white dress, and was glowing.
"Are you an angel?" (as weird as that sounds), he asked.
The woman chuckled.
"Quite close, young one."
"Am I dead?"
"Yes you are. Well, not exactly."
"What do you mean?"
"Your death was not supposed to happen this early. We couldn't do anything to prevent it from happening, we aren't supposed to interfere with events. However, everyone who passes through here has three choices."
"And what are those choices?"
"Either to be reborn on Earth as a new person, completely devoid of all memories, be reborn in another universe, yet retaining your memories, or see what's next. Most people pick the second option, but it's up to you."
"What about Val?" he asked, remembering what had happened to him and his girlfriend.
"She is currently going through the same process." She reassured. "So, Kyle Flaren, what's your choice?"
If I see what's next, will I join my ancestors, and most importantly, be reunited with Val? Or will it be something I did not expect? If I'm reborn into another universe, what will that be like? Hmm, I'll go with the second option. It's another chance at life without memories being erased.
"I choose the second option. To be reborn into another universe." And hopefully the same universe with Val. If she chooses the same option as I do.
The woman smiled. "That will be done. But before you go, listen to me. Be careful not to interfere too much," she warned. "Be careful with your knowledge. Good luck!"
The world around Kyle swirled, as everything went blank.
.
.
So that's the prologue wrapped up! It's rather brief, yes I know, but I did it that way as to give you fellow readers a brief idea about how he ended up being reincarnated. Will he meet Val? Find out in the next few chapters, and don't forget to drop a review and a follow if you wish. I don't mind constructive criticism, it helps me write better for future chapters. See you next time!
