I don't own any characters you recognize.
Braxiatel was having a nice day, humming to himself as he walked through the Collection's gardens. That is, until the woman walked up to him.
"Hi, Brax. Have you missed me?"
He pondered this for a minute. He didn't know her, but that didn't mean she didn't know him and he really wasn't in the mood for any spoilers today. Finally, he gave her a polite smile. "Have we met before?"
The woman ran a hand through her blond hair. "You don't recognize me? I know this is a big change- "She gestured to her body. "-but still."
Braxiatel frowned. There was something familiar about the woman, but it wasn't more than a faint feeling. The woman gave an exasperated sigh. "It's me. I'm the Doctor."
Braxiatel felt a headache coming on. "I thought that was just a story."
"Apparently it's not. First there was the Master, then there was that general I shot-"
The Doctor was about to launch into one of her rambling sessions when Braxiatel held up a hand to stop her.
"I don't want to know. What do you want?"
"Why do I always have to want something? Can't I just visit my brother?" The Doctor sounded hurt.
Braxiatel wasn't fooled for one minute. "What do you want?" He repeated.
The Doctor sighed and dropped the charade. "Fine, you caught me. I'm actually here because I need your help." She mumbled the last word.
Braxiatel leaned forward. "What did you say?"
"I need your help." The Doctor's voice trailed off again.
"Speak up. I can't hear you."
"Help! I need your help. Are you happy now?"
Strangely enough he wasn't. He just wanted to help the Doctor with whatever it is she wanted and send her on her way again. "Well, what do you need?"
"I need to borrow something from your collection but your bossy archivist wouldn't let me."
"Maybe your tendency to blow things up had something to do with it." Braxiatel replied sarcastically.
"I won't blow it up, I promise. I'll bring it back in one piece. Please, it's a matter of life and death."
"Fine." He muttered to himself as he scribbled a note and handed it to the Doctor. "Here, this should help."
The Doctor beamed and hugged him. "Thanks, Brax. I'll see you later."
"Who was that?" A new voice almost made him jump.
"You shouldn't have been evesdropping."
Benny held up her hands. "Sorry, couldn't help it." Ignoring Braxiatel's frown, she nodded in the direction of the Doctor's retreating figure. "So who was she?"
"She's my sister."
Benny looked confused. "I thought you said you only had a brother."
"It's a long and very complicated story. You don't want to know."
Benny simply grinned. "Try me."
And the day had started so wonderfully. Brax thought ruefully.
