This is my first fanfic so please be kind and review. Oh, and like everyone else here, I don't own Bones.
Bones was in her office working on her latest book. It was late at night and everyone else had gone had gone home for the weekend. As Bones tried to write a love scene between Kathy and Andy she kept stopping as she visualised herself and Booth in the scene instead of the characters. She had been having these thoughts for quite a while but was unable to say anything. She was too afraid of ruining their friendship by telling him how she felt and not having him returning those feelings. After a few minutes she closed down the document and turned her attention to the files on her desk. Several needed her signautre so Booth could hand them in to his boss at the FBI. As she engrosssed herself in checking the fine details, she failed to hear the footsteps approaching her office.
"Hey Bones." Booth greeted her with a wave and a wide grin.
"What are you doing here Booth?" Bones asked when she glanced up from the files.
"It's nine o'clock on a Friday night and you haven't eaten since we had lunch. I thought you might like to come get some Thai with me."
"I'm not hungry Booth." Bones replied automatically. Truth was she actually was hungry but didn't want Booth to know he was right because he would probably make a big deal about it.
"You need to eat Bones." Booth softened his voice. "You've been working really hard lately and you can't do good work on an empty stomach. So how about it?" he threw her the charm smile, knowing Bones could never resist it. True to form, Bones slowly began to smile and her reslove diminished.
"Let me just get my bag." Bones rose from her seat and retrieved her bag that was hanging on the back. As she stepped around the desk Booth was already holding out her jacket.
"Booth, I don't need you to help me with my jacket."
"I know, I want to. Okay?"
"Fine." Bones smiled as she slipped her arms into the jacket. Her heart started beating a little faster when she realised how close to Booth she was standing. But all too soon the moment was over and Booth was guiding her out the office with his hand on the small of her back. When they reached the parking garage, Booth steered her to his SUV.
"What about my car?" Bones asked.
"It'll still be here later. I can drop you back here afterwards." He grins.
"Fine." Bones agreed. She then glared at Booth when he opened the door for her to get into the passenger side. But it was really just a playful glare because even though she would never admit it, she actually liked Booth when he was being chivalrous. It made her feel special and she didn't get to feel like that very often. In no time at all they were on the road heading towards their favourite Thai restaurant with the radio blasting a song that meant so much to both of them, Hot-blooded.
So what did you think? Did you enjoy it? Please, please leave a review to let me know. I'll be posting another chapter soon so let me know what you thought?
