Derek picked the first day's activities, he decided on a bike ride, after a day of travelling he wanted to get out, exercise, have some fresh air and get to know the area. At first it was leisurely, but it soon turned into the two men racing first the other cyclists they passed, just because they didn't know about they race didn't mean they weren't in it, and then they raced each other, going faster and faster until a park ranger stopped them and asked them to slow down, it wasn't a race. Laughing from their telling off, enjoying not being relied on, and the freedom of being away from the team, they zoomed off and found a lovely large tree to have sex against.
The next day Spencer surprised Derek by asking him to show him how to ride a motorcycle, Derek first showed off his own skills and then got Spencer up front and Derek sat behind him, arms guiding. Watching Spencer take control of the beast, having him pressed up in front of him was a huge turn on for Derek, sadly Derek had never quite figured out how to have sex on a motorcycle but the jacuzzi in their room when they got back was a fine substitute.
"Derek, today we're going fishing" Spencer announced sitting jumping up and down on the other man trying to wake him. Derek wasn't a fan of fishing, sitting around doing nothing, hurting fish and then just throwing them back, what was the point, so he was relieved to discover that Spencer had forgotten the hooks. Spencer grinned at him "well I guess we'll just have to go skinny dipping instead" with that Spencer stripped off, to reveal a complete lack of underwear and jumped in to the water. Derek didn't waste any time and soon joined him. The spent the rest of the day, frolicking, running around naked, having water fights, having sex and lying together enjoying the comfort of having the other near.
They stayed by the lake until sunset whereupon Spencer showed Derek the stars, they were cuddled up together under a blanket they had brought along, Spencer pointed to constellations, naming each individual star within it and telling the story of the image the stars made up. Derek just enjoyed the warmth of Spencer and the listening to the joy of his voice as he shared his knowledge. Derek was listening really but something about it all just soothed him to sleep. He wasn't surprised to wake just before dawn to Spencer stroking his hair and still talking about the stars.
The day after Spencer took Derek rock climbing, he showed Derek how all the rope works, how to belay, and advised him to trust his toes. Derek spent more time ogling Spencer's arse while he expertly climbed the different courses. He overheard a woman who was very impressed with Spencer's technique and later ask if he was a professional. Derek was so proud of Spencer, the way he subtly let the woman know there was no point in flirting, the way he helped Derek learn to rock climb and the sandwiches he made that they ate atop a large rock.
On their last day they went for a long hike and made plans for their next vacation, they knew it would be vastly different. But they were ready for the challenge. They laughed at the idea that this was the parenting equivalent of a stag do. Next week the adoption agency was finally giving them their baby.
