Shot: Another songfic. I never realized just how much fun these things are to write. Yes, it's another one from The Lion King on Broadway. No it is not sung by Max and amazing, amazing it doesn't involve Race. It actually involves Spot and my own character, Locke.

Disclaimer: Since I fist discovered Newsies and the Lion King I've wanted to own them. Unfortunately I don't. I do own Locke.

Spot stood on the docks overlooking the newsboys swimming below him. His cool grayish-blue eyes landed on a blonde boy about 13 that stood 5'8" in height, leaning on a pillar. Spot walked over to him, "Locke, I know I'm training you to be leader when I leave, but that don't mean that you can' t go swimming today."

Locke shook his blonde hair, "I rather not. I'm working on looking intimidating. I'm gonna be a mighty leader, so enemies beware."

Spot laughed, "Well, I've never see the leader of Brooklyn quite so young in age."

Locke scoffed, "I'm gonna be the main event like no leader was before. I'm brushing up on looking down, I'm working on my aim."

Spot bit his lip to keep from laughing, "I've seen your aim and it's a rather uninspiring thing."

Locke straightened up, "I just can't wait to be leader. They'll be no one saying do this."

Spot started, "Now when I said that…"

Locke stopped him, "No one saying be there."

Again Spot started, "I was just giving you a good selling spot."

Locke interrupted, "No one saying stop that."

Spot stepped in, "What you don't realize…."

Locke spoke, "No one saying see here."

Spot yelled, "Now see here."

Locke stretched his arms, "Free to run around all day."

Spot shook his head, "That's definitely out."

Locke spoke defiantly, "Free to do it all my way."

Spot pushed Locke down on a crate, "I think it's time that you and I arranged a little heart to heart."

Locke tried to stand, "Leaders don't need advice from little shrimps for a start."

Spot pushed him back down, "If this is where the leadership is going, count me out. Out of Brooklyn, out of New York. I wouldn't hang around. You Locke are getting wildly out of wing.

Locke shoved Spot away, "I just can't wait to be leader. Everybody look left, everybody look right, everywhere you look I'm standing in the spotlight."

Spot sighed, "Not yet."

Locke scoffed, "Let every newsie go for broke and sing. Let's hear it in Manhattan and in Queens. It's gonna be Leader Locke's finest day. Oh, I just can't wait to be leader."

Spot sighed, "You have an awfully long time to wait. I'm not leaving for a good two or more years."

Locke sighed, "Fine. Guess I can take the afternoon off and go swimming then."

Spot laughed and ruffled his hair, "Yeah I guess you can."

Locke laughed and ripped off his shirt. He jumped into the water of the East River laughing along with the dozens of other newsies.
