Good Day

A tiny conversation ficlet that goes on between two people. *Post OoP! Spoilers!!!*

"I never dreamed that something of this measure would happen...Harry has now lost-"

"If he had only waited...if he had not acted so arrogantly as his father would have...."

"His life would have been saved. But it had nothing to do with his father, did it? His father didn't even raise him."

"Tis because he got himself blown up. Because of *his* heroics."

"Heroics doesn't run in the blood, Severus. Its just the way somebody is."

"Well, he is just like his father."

"No, he is not. Nobody is exactly like another person, I'm afraid. The world would be simply too boring."

"I'd prefer boring to this. Another member of the Order, murdered, all because of a stupid boy who couldn't-"

"Who let himself get carried away. Severus, the man was his Godfather! Of course, if his Godfather was dying, he would rush to rescue him. The boy is not stupid. He is rash, but not stupid. He is noble."

"You can call it whatever you want, Lupin, all I'm saying is that-"

"You miss him, don't you?"

*silence*

"What? Lupin, what the hell are you trying to-"

"You miss him. You loved rattling on James, and you loved rattling on Sirius. You loved to get into those fights with him...because you knew that when you were younger, you had been in the right half of the time. That you had been the one bullied at the hands of him. Trying to pull the guilt strings, Severus. You love holding that over him, and now that James and he are gone, the only one you have that power over is Harry."

"And you."

"I never said a bitter word to you, Severus. It was, after all, Sirius who really loathed you. James loved to bother you, sure. Peter was a bit more of a coward, I'm afraid....but I never really did much one way or another, did I?"

"You had the power to stop them."

"I did. But I didn't use it, because you didn't really seem deserving of all that much lenience."

"I don't want to argue about this any further, Lupin-"

"Whatever you wish, Severus. But do remember - I know how you feel. And if I catch you hoarding over Harry at all, ever, about the arrogance of any of the deceased that he's loved, then you will answer to me. Understood?"

"Is that a threat, Wolf Man?"

"I believe it is."

"I'll take that into account when I-"

"Take it into account always, Severus. You never know when I may be lurking in the shadows, awaiting for your final remarks that drive me over the edge. Do you know how it feels to lose two of your best friends?"

"No, for I have never had one."

*silence*

"Good day, Lupin."

"Good day, Severus."
