"January Rain"

Days of Our Lives Fanfiction
Prologue "Just like That"
"I can't see anything through this damn rain." He whispered. His clothes clung tightly to his body because of the sheets of rain that continued to fall down on him. Looking through the branches of the large oak tree, he could see the men talking around the large parking lot of cars.
The early evening the sporadic lightning flashes that streaked across the sky were lighting up sky. There was only one reason he was standing in the rain. He wanted answers. Answers to all of the questions that seem to have taken over his life. Once he gets these answers he can finally live. He can finally go back to what matters more than anything.
Her.
She was the only one he trusted. The only one that he confided into. And the only woman that he would ever love in his life. This was one thing however that he couldn't tell her about. He needed to do this on his own. It was too dangerous for her to be involved.
The two men standing near the car began to walk back towards the glowing lights of the Kiriakis mansion. The party was in full swing. Salem's most elite were there dancing and drinking the night away. He slowly walked over to the car.
In his life, he never knew the truth of where he actually came from. Who his family was. Or who he was actually. All he knew was that he needed to know the truth. The closer he got to that car he began to hesitate a bit. Knowing that he was this close to the truth scared him in a way. All of this information that he would find could change him forever.
As he came up to the black BMW, he placed his hand on the door handle. "There's no turning back now" a voice in the back of his head whispered. Slowly he began to life up on the handle.
"No problem! I'll go pick her up and I'll be back in no time!" A lively young woman's voice yelled. She opened up her giant black umbrella and started walking out into the night.
He quickly ducked down recognizing that beautiful voice from anywhere. She wasn't supposed to find him out here. As far as she knew he was running late to the party. Who was she going to pick up?
"Hey Meems!" Shawn Brady yelled coming up behind her.
"Yea Shawn?" Mimi yelled back looking at him impatiently.
"Why don't you take my car?"
"Don't worry about it! I have Rex's car and besides I take every opportunity to drive this beautiful vehicle!" She boasted sticking the keys into the lock of the car.
He smiled at her goofiness. That was one of the things he loved about her the most. The rain slowly let up as he started to make his way back towards the oak tree. He would wait there until she took off.
In the silence of the night the explosion was deafening. It lit up the night sky in a giant ball of fire. He fell down to his knees and covered his head from the blast. When it finally calmed he stood up real quick and watched as the attendants of the party came outside.
He didn't have to look to know what happen. In disbelief he watched the car burning.
They knew he was coming.
They knew he wanted the information.
They knew his car.
They knew her.
Mimi.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed as he ran as far away from the blaze as possible.
