Disclaimer: I don't own Potter, but neither do you so ha!

As he put on his black suit Remus Lupin did not feel like the last of the Marauders. He felt more like they had never existed at all; like it had been a good dream and he had woken to find that he was still the lonely child he had been in his first year worried that people would realise what he was. It was a lonely feeling. One he hadn't experienced in a long time and he could safely say he did not like it and he was quite certain he did not deserve it. He felt betrayed by all of them. Sirius for giving in to You Know Who, James for leaving his baby behind and Peter for getting himself killed. It was wrong to blame them and he knew it but something about the entire situation felt wrong. It just wasn't like Sirius to betray James and it certainly wasn't like Peter to be brave and reckless. Sirius had stood up for James against his eldest cousin Bellatrix in front of the whole school and Remus knew that You Know Who was even more powerful but he still felt that Sirius must have been tricked. But now was not the time to dwell on such things. He had two funerals to attend.

James and Lily Potter were to be buried at Godric's Hollow and Peter's mother was holding a small ceremony, Remus was to be an honorary guest at both. Sirius had asked to see Remus before he was locked away in Azkaban but Remus did not think he would be able to look at his dearest friend in a long time. Still he felt he owed it to James, Lily and Peter to get an explanation from the friend who he had adored and admired so much. He made a promise to himself to go and visit Sirius in Azkaban at some point. He never did. But in the end he didn't need to because the ones dearest to your heart always have a way of finding their way back in the end.
