Title: falling from heaven
Notes: This was written for Jasmine's (Hope Is A Beautiful Thing) Freeverse Competition over on HPFC. I would like to thank her for being such a lovely person and a beautiful host, along with giving me this pairing. I would also like to thank Cass (our dancing days) and Ali (forgotten timelords) for looking over this, putting up with my ranting and generally just being flawless.
I also love this pairing and I don't know where this concept came from.
James Sirius Potter,
you've fallen from grace
fallen from heaven,
Lucifer,
with your black hair and your black eyes
and your black heart and your black wings.
Lucifer.
Banished by your own father
our God, the saviour, the saintly Harry Potter,
Harry Potter, with his dead green eyes clouded with misery.
Lucifer.
And the worst part is – the very worst part is:
falling tasted like star filled skies and moonlight trysts
and moonlight glinting off water and indigo eyes
and Paris and cigarette smoke and poetry scrawled in onyx ink
and beauty and desire and
her.
And, let's be truthful, James,
Lucifer,
falling tasted better than wearing wings of golden deceit
and, honestly:
you can't bring yourself to care.
(fall, fall, fall, Lucifer)
/
Dominique Gabrielle Weasley,
you're in the Garden of Eden, paradise,
wearing your golden hair and your crown of innocence like it's deserved,
but, darling, you're nothing but a washed out girl with a faded smile,
Eve.
You've got your plain-old Adam,
and his golden smile and his shining eyes
and uncorrupted mind.
Eve,
listen to that call, ignore his venom, follow his voice,
the snake, Lucifer.
taste the forbidden fruit, bite into the apple,
Eve,
didn't you always want to live on the wild side?
And the worst part is – the very worst part:
the forbidden fruit tasted like unforgiving desire and painting in indigo
and holding hands and picnic blankets and flying above the clouds
and honey sunlight on your skin and that buzz of rebellion
and cinnamon and temptation and
him.
And let's be truthful, Dominique,
Eve,
Lucifer's cutting shoulder-blades and husky voice
is all you want,
Eve, bid Adam goodbye and take his hand, if you dare.
(and run)
/
Eve, Lucifer, James, Dominique,
flee.
Run from God, run from paradise,
you're outcasts, now,
so hide your faces and run, run, fly away.
Your crown of innocence and your wings of golden deceit are long gone,
so, darlings, don't pretend you're still
desired.
(your crown of thorns and wings of midnight temptation
are all you'll ever be)
Keep running, and don't ever stop,
(maybe your love will be the only thing that'll keep you going)
(maybe it won't be enough)
(maybe you're willing to take a chance)
So, darlings, run from the gates
and don't ever look back.
And, remember, no matter what,
you'll always be Eve and Lucifer
and you'll always just be that boy and that girl
that fell.
