Chun Li nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden tap on her shoulder. Whirling around, she saw that it was Ken Masters, resident rich kid and one of her closest friends.
She wanted to yell at him but they were in a library so she didn't. Instead she opted for glaring at him.
"What was that for?" Chun asked.
"For fun of course. What else is there?"
Chun sighed and resumed her observations, Ken following her example.
"Who are we looking at?" Ken whispered.
"None of your business!" Chun whispered back.
"Oh c'mon Li, don't try to pull that old card. Wait a sec, I know that girl, it's-"
"Cammy White," Chun interrupted, sighing a bit after the name.
Ken, catching the sigh, smirked as he looked from his friend to Cammy White.
Cammy was relatively new on campus, having transferred to Capcom University last month, and looked fierce, with several scars adorning her body.
"She does look pretty butch," Ken admitted, earning himself a hard whack from Chun.
"She does not. Now go count your money or something and leave me alone."
"Why? So you can play chicken and not ask another girl you like out? Remember Rose?"
"That was one time," Chun Li insisted.
"Juli, Juni, Elena, Karin, Sakura, Makoto, Ibuki...want me to go on?"
Chun Li clenched her teeth and wished that she hadn't gone to every school with Ken since kindergarten.
"Well this time will be different."
"Then go ask her out."
Chun Li shook her head, about to shoo him away, when he pushed her out from behind the bookshelf. Arms windmilling as she lost her balance, the college student braced for a painful impact.
It was a few moments later that she felt a pair of arms holding her steady.
Opening her eyes, she was met with a pair of breasts. Blushing, Chun moved her eyes upward into the face of Cammy White.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah...thanks for catching me."
Ken watched from his vantage point as the two interacted, spying a few shared chuckles, some more small talk, and finally an exchange of numbers.
Cammy then walked away from Chun Li, smiling but with a blush of her own marking her face.
Chun Li then walked past Ken, strutting as if she owned the world.
Ken rolled his eyes at the sight of his studious friend's cocky attitude.
"So...where you two lovebirds going?"
"The movies and not until Saturday." Ken patted Chun on the shoulder then and ruffled her hair a bit.
"Let's go celebrate your good fortune with some burgers. My treat."
Chun Li nodded and suddenly hugged Ken tightly.
"Thanks Masters. Every now and then I remember why we're pals."
Ken blinked a bit, surprised at the hug, before nodding.
"Don't mention it. But there is something you can do for me in return..."
"What?"
"Get some pictures of you two making out."
A moment later Ken was rubbing his stinging cheek and watched as Chun stomped on ahead, muttering about stupid rich kids.
Smiling, Ken followed after her, knowing that despite the slaps and fights, they would always be friends.
Even after Chun ordered enough burgers to feed an army on Ken's credit card.
