The pane of glass separating his rooms from the exterior of the castle creaked and rattled as heavy sheets of the rains of late March fell. Wind howled and a shiver went up his spine as wisps of cool air seemed to sink through spaces between the stone walls. It mattered not that Teddy was upon his twenty ninth year and the hallowed Care of Magical Creatures Professor, for the ambiance that Hogwarts held still allowed for his nervous tendencies.

Despite being of magical essence, the castle was still in fact a castle; built of harsh stone and years old cement. So those rainy Spring days were all the more cold and uninvited than even the bitter days of Winter; and it certainly did not help that he was a tad frightened of storms.

His godfather suspected that the fear stemmed from his days as a newborn; when the war was still raging and constant sounds like thunder echoed through the night, yet were even more devastating. Those sounds were those that his parents passed away to, leaving him behind. He supposed that just the knowledge that they were taken with something so nerve wrecking supplied his own wrecked nerves.

There was nothing like a harsh storm to get him all worked up. It just had to be one of those days that even his hair reflected his feelings by appearing a dull gray. Teddy rolled his shoulders as he closed his eyes against a particularly forceful gust of wind that berated the window. The essays from his seventh years lay strewn about him on the desk, abandoned in his attempts to ignore the rain and he finally groaned as he stood from his chair.

It was just moments later, as he was ready to cast a silencing charm on the rooms, that a soft knock echoed from the door. Barely hearing it above the incessant whirring, Teddy turned and made to open the door. Expecting one of his students, as his third years were having a study hall just outside, he was quite surprised to find Scorpius bustling into the room.

Despite it being the middle of a school day and having the threat of being overheard by the children, Teddy burrowed his face into the crook of the the smaller mans neck as he allowed himself to be encased in warm arms. Scorpius simply tightened his hold, rubbing soothing circles over Teddy's back as he hummed a quiet tune.

As he stood there, hunched in his lovers arms, Teddy could feel his pulse begin to calm. The world seemed to quieten, as the sound of Scorpius' humming and heartbeat drifted to his ears. Together they stood there in the center of the room, slightly swaying to the mixture of song and rain until Teddy finally drew a deep breath.

With another thankful squeeze around Scorpius' middle, Teddy leaned back and glanced at the mans features. Bright eyes that swirled like an ocean tide flitted about his own face as thin fingers pushed hair back out of his eyes. From nothing but the small smile that Scorpius gave him, he knew that his hair had lightened into that perfect shade of purple that his lover adored so much.

"I've taken the liberty of canceling the rest of our classes for the evening." The words brought a brilliant smile out of Teddy and he shook his head in exasperation. Leave it to Scorpius to know exactly what he needed better than even himself. "I have also arranged for a warm bath, a candle-lit dinner, and a night cuddling in a mountain of blankets and pillows." Teddy barked a laugh at that and Scorpius smirked in satisfaction. "But truly," Scorpius leaned forward to peck the older man on the corner of his mouth, "Let's get something into your stomach as I wouldn't want you to get famished."

He finished his words with a nip to Teddy's chin, who pushed their lips together easily. Before allowing himself to be pulled off towards their shared rooms, Teddy set an editing quill to work on the messy essays. While he would be enjoying his time with Scorpius, those papers still needed grading.
