"Ah, arigatou, minna!" Kikumaru Eiji exclaimed. It was the 28th of November, and his friends had set up a surprise party for him. As Eiji mingled with the people present, Fuji Syusuke approached the mastermind of the surprise party, Hinamori Umi.
"Enjoying yourself, Umi?" Fuji asked.
"Hm, I guess so. He's happy isn't he? So I'm happy as well." She replied wistfully, eyes closed.
"You should be. We couldn't have done this without you. From the decorations to the food to the music, you knew what he would like." Fuji smiled at her. She chuckled.
"Of course. We're best friends."
"Iie. Even for a best friend, you know so much."
"And what is that supposed to mean?" She asked sharply. He opened his eyes.
"You know what it's supposed to mean." She didn't reply.
"Do you love him, Umi?"
Pause.
"No."
"Yes."

What the heck. I really don't like this one very much. I think I messed up with this. But anyways, please review! Constructive criticism is most welcome. I do want to know what you think and how I can improve as a writer. Oh, and by the way, the song this ficlet is based on is of the same title, by Taylor Swift. I wanted to write a drabble, but I exceeded the 100-word limit, so I can't consider this a drabble. *grins*
