Hey guys! I've been really liking (but agonizing over) Citrus for a while, so I decided to go ahead and try writing a fanfic for Mei & Yuzu. It's my first time writing something like this—I hope y'all like this one-shot! Let me know what you think :)

Disclaimer: I don't own Citrus or any of the characters.

"Geez, how can one person take such amazing pictures?" Yuzu scrolled through the website on her computer, thoroughly surveying each photo she passed. For the past couple weeks, she had become enraptured by the work of Mei Aihara, a young photographer from the area that Yuzu and her mother had recently moved to. Most of Mei's pictures were of the somber sides of nature, such as dead flowers or insect carcasses, but Yuzu found absolute beauty in every photo, no matter what the subject.

There was a knock on the door of the bedroom, and Yuzu's mother poked her head in.

"Yuzu, dinner's about ready. Come and set… Are you looking through Mei's pictures again?" the short-haired woman spoke as she leaned down to examine the computer screen.

"Mom, she just uploaded a new set of photos a few hours ago. Just look at how awesome they are!" Yuzu pointed to a colorless picture of a black widow wrapping in its silk what appeared to be a large caterpillar. The quality was so clear that Yuzu felt as if the spider's venom would drip out of the page.

Yuzu's mother smiled. "Okay, I gotcha. Just come down for dinner soon, alright?" The blonde nodded, giving a soft grunt of acknowledgement.

"Oh wait, you know what…" Yuzu heard her mother's voice and turned her head to face the older woman. "You know that Mei attends the same high school that you're going to tomorrow?"

The teen froze, feeling her jaw go slack.

"No. Way. Mom! Why was I not aware of this?" She jumped up out of her chair and moved to put her hands firmly on her mother's shoulders.

"How did you know this? Do you know if she's in the same class as me? Is she smart? Pff, of course she's smart, heck she's probably at the top of the class—"

"Yuzu. Calm down, it's okay. I don't really know that much about her," Yuzu's mother stepped away from her daughter's touch with a chuckle. "Look, let's go eat. You can worry about all this later." She walked through the doorway, leaving Yuzu with her thoughts.

Oh my God. Mei Aihara, the best freakin' photographer ever, goes to my school… Wow. What a wonderful way to be welcomed to the neighborhood!

Yuzu shook her head and followed the direction her mother had gone in. While excited, she unquestionably felt a newfound sense of nervousness for the first day at her new school.

It's okay... You got this, Yuzu! You're gonna ace your first day! You're gonna meet Mei and… Well, hopefully you'll run into Mei sometime, it's not very likely but geez wouldn't that be great, then you could ask her so many questions and you could also—

"You there!"

The blonde was interrupted from her internal rambling, focusing her attention on the figure that appeared in front of her. It was a girl with long, lustrous, black hair wearing a red armband that read "Student Council." Her posture was rigid and her appearance screamed "authority."

Yuzu gulped. Oh. Did I do something? Damn, this girl is pretty. Wait, have I seen her somewhere before…?

"Are you aware that you are in violation of multiple dress code protocols?" The black-haired girl crossed her arms, eyeing Yuzu with a stern, amethyst glare.

"W-What? How am I committing any violations? I'm dressed normally," Yuzu responded, taking a moment to look at the other students who had begun to gather. Okay, so maybe I look a bit different than they do… Man, what is up with these boring people?

Yuzu turned her head back to face the other girl, taking a step forward so that their faces were mere inches apart. She hesitated, feeling her breath slow and her heart rate speed up when she realized just how close she was to the alluring girl.

"Um, w-well…" Yuzu glanced down for the briefest moment, struggling to speak the words she had on her mind. She took a breath. "It's not fair, ya know. I'm new here, so I didn't know about the ridiculous rules you had here, Miss Student Council."

The authoritative student paused, then inclined her head to narrow the already small space that existed between the two girls. Yuzu knew that the blush had heated her own cheeks by now, enough so that the other girl must have been able to feel it. Silence hung in the air, further causing Yuzu to squirm internally while trying to keep her resolve.

The girl with the black hair brought her lips by Yuzu's ear.

"Be in the chairman's office immediately after school."

Yuzu could only stare at the other girl in confusion as the latter withdrew her body and turned away without another word. The congregation around the affair parted a path for the retreating student, striking up louder discussion amongst themselves.

Okay I don't know what the hell is up with that chick but I guess I'm going to the chairman's office after school.

Yuzu's thinking was overshadowed by the bell that sounded to announce that school was about to start. She mindlessly began walking with the flow of other students, unable to get her mind off the encounter that just occurred.

Somehow, she managed to find her way to her homeroom and took a seat after briefly introducing herself to the teacher. A tone signaled the beginning of class, vaguely lowering the hushed voices that had previously risen amongst the students.

"Now hold on, Miss Aihara. As a new student, you have to introduce yourself to the class," the teacher beckoned for Yuzu to stand in the front of the classroom. Yuzu casually rose from her chair and walked up the aisle of desks despite the minor discomfort she felt from sensing people stare at her and whisper.

Once at the front and center of the room, Yuzu cleared her throat.

"Hey everybody! The name's Yuzu Aihara, and I…" the blonde's voice trailed off as she managed to catch the gaze of a certain black-haired girl sitting at one of the desks by the window. Yuzu had an abrupt moment of realization, and felt her whole body begin to tremble.

"A-ah!" Yuzu stuttered, hastily pointing her finger at the girl from earlier. "Y-you! You're… You're Mei Aihara!" The other students wore bemused expressions, and the girl in question could only raise her eyebrow in moderate intrigue.

How the HELL could I not have recognized her sooner?! Stupid, stupid Yuzu! Oh my god she was sitting so close to me. Wow, she really is as gorgeous in person as I imagined she would be…

After a brief pause, the teacher gestured for Yuzu to resume her introduction. The girl did so, albeit with less poise, and headed back to her seat. She couldn't help but bore her gaze into the back of Mei's head for the entire class, daydreaming about a multitude of scenarios in which they could find themselves. How she wanted to ask Mei an endless amount of questions about her photography and just talk about anything…

Despite numerous efforts, however, Yuzu was not able to have a few moments with Mei during the school day. Every time she tried to approach the commanding student, someone would get in the way, the bell would ring, Yuzu had an unexpected lapse in determination—it seemed as if anything and everything was preventing her from speaking with Mei, and before she knew it, Yuzu found herself outside the door to the chairman's office after classes had ended.

Yuzu took a deep breath and knocked. There was no answer, so Yuzu tentatively opened the door and—

Click!

Yuzu blinked, faltering for a second before registering what had happened. Mei lowered a sizable, black camera from her face and proceeded back into the room.

"Uh, what's going on?" Yuzu said, stepping into the room uncertainly after closing the door behind her.

Mei smirked. "You are a beautiful subject. I had to get a candid photo of you."

The blonde girl blushed—did Mei just say she was beautiful?

"Heh, um, thanks… Look, I'm not entirely sure why I'm here, but I want to say that I really, really, like your work, and I—" Yuzu began, but she was cut off by another click. Mei advanced in Yuzu's direction, effectively silencing the girl further. She placed a finger over the blonde's lips.

"Don't talk so much," Mei whispered. She snapped another picture, and laid a hand on Yuzu's chest. She gently pushed the other girl back until they ended up by the side wall of the room. Mei slipped her fingers into the collar of Yuzu's shirt and delicately pulled the fabric to her shoulder. Yuzu's breath quivered. Her mind was too clouded in exhilaration to question what exactly Mei was doing.

Mei changed the angle that her camera was at and took another picture, emphasizing the other girl's bare shoulder.

"H-hey, don't you usually not take pictures of people?" Yuzu managed to mutter.

The black-haired girl inched backwards. "Yes, I do prefer nature, but since I have a subject such as you in my hands…" Mei swept Yuzu's bangs up and to the side, and twirled a part of the golden locks around her fingers. She took another photo, perfectly capturing Yuzu's flustered expression.

Yuzu attempted to build her wavering confidence back up, but then the photographer tilted her head towards Yuzu's exposed neck, instantly suppressing the other girl's will to appear nonchalant.

"I just need to…take pictures…" Mei's voice faded, her lips instead making contact with the point between Yuzu's neck and shoulder. The latter's body stiffened, unable to move as Mei worked fleeting kisses up Yuzu's neck and onto her jaw.

Mei drew back, lifting her head to meet Yuzu's eyes.

Holy shit… Mei is… She's…!

Yuzu's muddled thoughts snapped, and on impulse, she rapidly took Mei's face in her hands and brought their lips together. Mei reacted after the most concise delay, bringing her free hand to Yuzu's waist to pull the other girl closer. Her other hand brought the camera up, but Yuzu lost the sound of the shutter amongst the upheaval of comprehension occurring in her head. She was only aware of Mei's mouth moving against hers, and being guided off the wall.

Eventually, Yuzu's back came to lean on the large, wooden desk that stood in the center of the office. Mei separated their lips from each other, leaving Yuzu deeper in a state of longing and confusion.

"Um, Mei…?"

Mei quieted the other girl by lifting the camera in front of their faces; however, she didn't take a picture. The device lingered where it was for a few moments before Mei decided to place it down on the desk, and positioned her hands by either side of Yuzu's head, stretching her arms.

"You just make for a very stunning picture," Mei remarked huskily. Yuzu swallowed the butterflies in her throat as the girl above her gradually lowered her head to Yuzu's in a kiss laced with more desire than before. Mei trailed the tips of her fingers from Yuzu's cheek down to her collarbone, her reach beginning to slip under Yuzu's shirt towards her chest, when she suddenly retracted her hand and straightened her body up.

After a second, Yuzu followed suit. What was Mei thinking at this point?

"…I think it's time for me to go," the girl with the black hair stated, grabbing her camera and turning towards the exit.

"Wait!" Yuzu grasped Mei's arm, causing the other girl to leisurely turn her attention back. "You're just gonna leave? No…no explanation?"

The corner of Mei's mouth twitched. "Yuzu… You need to understand, I have much work to do. There are many pictures that need to be taken that I must plan for."

She brought her face closer to Yuzu's with each word, her breath running across Yuzu's lips and her eyes narrowing seductively.

"I will see you soon."

Soon after the last word left Mei's lips, she turned around and headed out of the room. Yuzu slowly backed up against the desk and slid down so that her legs made a heap on the floor.

Damn, am I looking forward to seeing her again…

I hope you enjoyed my first story :D
