The Landing
The swirl of light came from nowhere. It was a shock and I tried to avoid it. I swerved from side to side but the vortex expanded and sucked me in. It threw me four thousand years earlier and halfway across the galaxy. I took a reading from my instruments and had a flask of recognisance. I knew of this planet and time period. Donna and Martha were from here: Earth, 2009. I approached the planet and saw a beautiful planet below me. I saw a landing area labelled Cardiff on my view screen and aimed my joystick downwards towards it. I aimed for on a paving stone near a weird sculpture. The shuttle landed with a thud on this but none of the passers-by noticed me and I didn't squish anybody. I checked all the systems and everything was working. I became excited about this planet. I had heard a lot about this planet from Donna: some peaceful aliens but also good running shops. I looked out of my window. I saw I had a welcoming committee, two men and two women. One of the men was wearing a ground length coat and windswept ruffled hair. The other man was holding a tray of coffee and had a look of longing to the first man. One of the women defied description as I caught sight of the other with a head of black hair. She was looking at my ship. I switched on the outside microphone.
"I recognise these symbols, they are the three moons of Messillane, Jack," she told the man with the long coat. I recognised that voice it was…
"Martha, that means…" asked the other woman.
"I'm getting to that," she replied quickly, "these were inscribed on the vehicles of the joint Human-Hath colonisation of Messiline in the early sixty-first century. Whoever's in here suffered a time-slip. The Doctor and Donna had fun there, I didn't…" I begin to open my door and the beeping cut her off.
Martha made eye-contact with me and had a look of astonishment on her face. "You're dead, Jenny!" she told me.
"My body temporarily shut down after a perforation of my cardiac tissues." I told her
"I got all of that then except the temporary bit. I'm sorry we left"
"Are we interrupting something?" interrupted that stupid woman.
"No but you are," snapped Martha. "Go do some paperwork. Get Directory Enquiries for John Smith. Ianto, go make a round of coffee than have fun in Jack's office. Jack, Jenny, we have some introductions to do."
"Thanks for noticing me again," Jack laughed. "Finished bossing my team around?"
"Just wanted to get rid of Ianto and Gwen. Jenny, this is Jack: a former companion of the Doctor . Jack, this is Jenny: a generated anomaly of the Doctor, an opposite sex clone who we thought was dead."
"Ok, Martha" Jack asked, "Which part of Time Lords don't die, didn't you get?"
"What you going to do, Jenny? No aliens need fighting here. You could join us," she looked to Jack and he nodded, "but I'd have to check with your Dad. He'd like to in the loop."
"That sounds fun!" I told them.
So it came to pass that I began to work for Torchwood.
