CHAPTER 2

Family's Important

Previously on The Walking Dead:

Daryl : Who the hell are you, and what do you want from me !?

Officer : I'm Sheriff Rick Grimes, and I'm just looking for my family…

Daryl: They may be in a camp outside of Atlanta – Daryl said.

Rick :What… !? How do you know that !?

Daryl : While I was repairing my truck, I turned on the radio for some news. Heard that they are going to evacuate the city. Thought that it's some kinda prank.

Rick got excited. He heard something for his family after 2 weeks of silence. Those words of Daryl gave him hope. He asked him. :

Rick : Are you coming with me ? You gave me the good news. You deserve more that a lift in my car.

Daryl was planning of searching for his brother, Merle in Atlanta. He was arrested before all happened, and there were rumors that many prisoners escaped from a lot of prisons. He looked at the officer, and said :

Daryl : Nah. I'm a go to look for my brother. Maybe after that we can come to that camp.

Rick : Okay… Are you armed ?

Daryl : Yeah. I have a crossbow, a hunting knife and a Beretta Pistol.

Rick looked at his bag which was full of guns, ammo, food, water and survival gear. He took few cans of food, 3 bottles of water and put them in young Dixon's backpack. He also gave him a shotgun Mossberg 550 with a lot of shotgun shells and a Glock 17 pistol. The officer looked at Daryl and said :

Rick : Take these thangs… You will need food and protection while searching your brother. . I know how it feels to search for someone from your family.

Daryl thought "The man has a family, and needs those things more than I do… I can't take them.".

Daryl : Keep 'em, man. You'll need 'em more than I do. You've got a family to take care of. Plus I have moonshine and some cooked venison. I'll survive

Rick refused to take it back and said:

Rick : I've got enough stuff and thangs for surviving at least 2 weeks. Don't worry.

Daryl thanked Rick,andgave him a bottle of moonshine. Daryl liked it more than the famous brands which were sold in the markets.

2 Hours Later

Daryl realizedthat they are almost outofgas. He was planning of leaving to look for his brother. He looked at Rick, and saw that he needs help with that car. There were few cars in 10 meters distance. He took his arrow and force opened the fuel door. Filled all the gas from the car inside a 10 galloon water bottle, which after gave it to Rick. Rick thanked him and they both hit the road.

After walking for 3 miles, Daryl saw a little town. There weren't many walkers there. He decided to check the small town for survivors, and while walking, he saw his brother's Triumph motorcycle. Few minutes later he heard gunshots, and someone screaming.

Stranger : Come here ya fuckin' pussies !

Daryl : What the fuck !? Is that Merle !?

-Daryl said and ran inside the building, and he was right. It was his brother, killing walkers. One of them grabbed Merle, and almost bit him. Daryl shot it with an arrow. Merle looked back and he saw his little brother.

Merle: Hoollly Shiiit, it's mah baby brother Darlene !

Daryl : I've been lookin' for ya since 5 days ya jerk. C'mon let's leave this fucking place.

Merle : An' where exactly we're gon' go, baby brother ?

Daryl : There's a camp, just outside of Atlanta. Maybe we can make things work there.

Merle : Or we can go there and steal their supplies and food. We'll need them.

Daryl : HELL NO ! There are kids, and families. We can't do it !

Merle : Think 'bout it, Darlene. We get those things, we can survive for months. And don't be such a pussy.

Daryl looked at his older brother, and grabbed his shirt. He looked, right into his eyes, and said :

Daryl : I don' fuckin' know if you're drunk or high, but if you continue talkin' bullshit, I'm a stomp your ass ya jerk !

Merle : DO IT, DARLENE ! Show me if you are a man ! The ol' man was right 'bout you. You are not a strong man !

Daryl looked inside his brother's eyes and said.

Daryl : He won't say anythin' bad to ya anymore. He's gone. Now go and celebrate it by drinkin' or takin' drugs, ya asshole !

Merle : Wait… What happened to the old man ? Is he… is he alive ?

Daryl didn't answered the question, and just told his brother that he's going to that camp. He turned back to his brother and also said :

Daryl : You know, I fount you. An' you're the one who's leavin' me. AGAIN ! – and left the building.

Merle opened his last bottle of moonshine, and went after his younger brother. Daryl was planning of going to the camp on foot. Merle yelled at him :

Merle : Ey ! Come here, baby brother. I have my monster over here. But you ride, I'm busy with drinking this good, moonshine here.

Daryl thought "Family's important." went there and said :

Daryl : Let's roll ya jerk.

IN ATLANTA

After 30 miles, they got in Atlanta, and in the main road, Daryl saw Rick's car. It was empty. No food, no guns. He thought "He probly ran out of gas, and he left the car.". Just before Daryl left Rick's car, he heard a girl's voice from the Police car's radio. She was saying :

Girl : Hello… ? If you can hear this, we're just outside of Atlanta. DO NOT ENTER THE CITY ALONE ! There are a lot of walkers there. Just follow the signs we left in the road, and you can find our camp….

Daryl closed the car's door and got back to his brother's motorcycle. He told his brother that they have to follow the signs. He accepted and they decided to go to the camp. After 10, they were in the camp, and asked them if they can join the group. They accepted them. There were many people. Daryl asked them :

Daryl : Did any police officer joined this group today ? When I was in the road he told that he'll come here.

One of them looked at Daryl. His name was Shane. He answered :

Shane : No. Nobody came here before you 2.

Daryl : Can we go to look for him ? He was a good man, looking for his family. Plus he had many things like food, water and guns.

An old man called Dale, which was their lookout, said :

Dale : We are planning of going for supply run tomorrow. We are going to look for him too.

Daryl agreed and gave his things to his older brother. He told them :

Daryl : Now, if you don' mind me I'm a go huntin'. We'll have some meat for dinner tonight.

When they heard that, they all got happy, especially the children. They were saying that they haven't eaten meat for a long time.

While Daryl was looking for some animals in the woods, he saw a deer. He aimed at it's head and pulled his crossbow's trigger. After an hour he got back to the camp. When the people in the camp saw that they all thanked him. A guy named Morales had children. He thanked Daryl a lot and said :

Morales : Thanks for bringing that deer to our camp. Thanks to you my children will eat tonight !

Daryl : That's what we do. We take care of each other.

Morales shook Daryl's hand and said :

Morales : I'm real glad that you are one of us , Dixon.

Then 2 sisters called Amy and Andrea came, and told the young Dixon :

Amy : You are great ! We appreciate your help to our group a lot ! You earned a lot more than just being here.

Andrea : We appreciate it a lot, Dixon, and I'm really glad that you and your brother joined us.

Daryl : I'm glad that I helped. And when's the supply run, again ?

Andrea : It's tomorrow. We are going in the morning.

Daryl : A'ight. I'll be ready. Now if you don't mind me, I have to get prepared for the mornin' looks like it's gonna be a long day.

THE NEXT DAY

The next day, Daryl woke up early in the morning. His brother was taking his things. He asked him what the hell is he doing ? He asked him :

Merle : Yesterday you were the hero of these people, Darlene. Today I wanna be the one. You protect the camp, or go huntin' I'm a go to the supply run.

Daryl : I promised those people to go with 'em. I can't let ya do that.

Merle : I talked with 'em. They asked me to ask you. Just give me the description of the man, and I'll get him here.

Daryl : 'kay, ya ape. Go and have fun.

Daryl told how exactly Rick is, and went outside to tell them his decision. He was going to go to hunt more, and look for eatable plants. They all liked his plan. Just after they left, Amy came and asked him if she can come with him in the woods, for hunting. He couldn't risk someone's life and said:

Daryl : Look, girl. I ain't riskin' anyone's life, you can't.

Amy : I ain't a little girl, Daryl. I just wanna learn how to use a gun, or crossbow.

Daryl always was a lone wolf, and wanted to go out there alone. Also he couldn't risk someone's life. He looked at Amy and said :

Daryl : I ain't gon' tell ya that you can't come with me. It's dangerous out there. – and went to his tent to sleep.

Amy : Jerk… - and she went to her tent too.

Daryl realized that he was rude to that girl, but he felt no guilt. He thought "Am I becoming a monster already ? Or is it just because of my loss ?". He took one from his brother's cigarette's, light it and went outside to smoke it. While smoking, he heard some noises. There were 4 shadows in a tent. He took his crossbow and ran there. There were walkers ! The camp was attacked by them. He yelled :

Daryl : EVERYONE ! WAKE UP ! THERE ARE WALKERS IN OUR CAMP !

After few minutes 10 more walkers showed up. They took the guns and killed them. Daryl went to that tent, and saw Amy, with a knife. She killed all of those walkers, and she was crying. Daryl went inside, and saw her teen cousin. She was 15-16 years old. Daryl took Amy outside, and went back inside. Amy grabbed his hand just before he got inside and said :

Amy : Daryl… Please… Don't… Don't kill her…

Daryl : Jus' get da' hell outa' here ! – he said and went inside. He drew his gun, and shot the little girl without even blinking. He went outside and told Amy :

Daryl : This is just the beginning… - and got

lost in the shadows
