Poketales-The Little Mermaid (Starring Nixie the Mermaid, and Sora the prince)

Chapter 1- Rookie Basics

Author's notes- Hey everyone I have returned, ready and willing to do yet another story, theme this time is the Little Mermaid.(of which I do not own) Now I'm sure since my three previous stories all had the same basic idea I'll bet at least most of you think it'll be just like the others right? WRONG!

You see I tried to come up with how I was going to do the whole poke-plot and I realized it was much too hard to do ^+^ soooo I shall do the remaking as if it is an actual retelling of said story…However! I shall have pokemon be as if it's a pokemon movie(the whole they are friends, companions partners ect ect…)

Another twist is instead of the Disney story plot, I have decided to do the Japanese version of the little mermaid, because I like it's characters and plot a bit more(but I'm not using their names cause I can), if you guys don't know it, look it up, it's great.

(if you see the main character is a blonde with a small dolphin named fritz your good)oh but make sure you're mature for it ok? If anyone is interested in how I chose the names please click the link at the bottom of the chapter

Now as I probably said for the 100th time I do not own The little Mermaid or pokemon(Oh how I wish I did…) this is for entertainment and for the world to see fairytales in a new light -^_^- enjoy~

3rd P.O.V

Once upon a wave, there lived a time of royalty, kings and queens, dashing heroic princes and beautiful gracious princesses. Hardworking peasants and bewitching sorceresses.

Now there was more to life then titles and such however, there were many of species that inhabited this world. There were human mortals, animals like creatures named pokemon, and the main character's species, the mermaids.

Now I'm sure you people know what humans are. Don't know you're knowledge on mermaids and pokemon?(Meaning if you don't know the basics why are you reading!?) So I'll give the lowdown.

First off, the mermaid…think a human with a long dolphin tail, that can breath underwater. They're into nature and the purity of life. Though they don't normally hold grudges, they aren't too chummy with the mortals on dry land.

Why you ask? Well for starters, humans on land who can't breath underwater or communicate with pokemon. And maybe the fact that mermaids under the sea who can't even walk on said land...(The whole leg thing if overrated) who can breath underwater and communicate with pokemon…

Next is the 'mystery myths.' Time and time again, humans have tried to capture mermaids, taking them away from their families and way of life, because they are considered 'magical,' 'mystical' and even 'mythical.' They have also been known to sink ships, cause natural disasters and even enslave foolish land walkers to their will with magical spells.

Of which is a total stereotype, it's the sea witch that mostly causes that. But in any case, humans think they're special when they're not and mermaids…well they don't understand humans and frankly not many would want to socialize with them…there are exceptions but not many.

Next is the pokemon, as I said previously they are animal like creatures that inhabit the planet.

They come in all shapes sizes and colors, and go figure they even have personalities as if they have a mind of their own.(And for anyone who thinks otherwise go bye bye ^_^ aha joking jokin, I need some humor here people don't hate me T_T)

Both the land walkers and undersea swimmers(I know kinda lame nicknames) have lived and interacted with said beings for so long, that no one is even sure where the first pokemon ever appeared and when.

Researchers are still studying and learning more about them everyday. Pokemon are considered friends, partners, allies, rivals and even family.

It's probably one of the only things humans and mermaids have in common. They love their pokemon companions. However not all is cheery and fun. A darkness is beginning to spread throughout the sea, and will soon make it's way onto dry land.

And her name is…dunt dunt dunttttt….Lena and her 2 prized and faithful Huntails. Unlike normal huntail, these two don't have the usual blue and orange colorings, but with black and a deep plum purple patterning instead.

At one point Lena and her pokemon had been good spreading peace and helping the people of both land and sea sleep well at night. The tides were much calmer, and the skies much more blue and pure. But time, corruption and pride changed her personality to as low and as rotten as it could be.

Now she spends her days, fooling the naive fish folk who enter her lair. She will give you an offer for your dreams and wishes to come true…but with a price and a gamble…if you succeed with whatever proposition or deal she makes with you, your dream/wish becomes a reality.

If you fail though, you accept whatever it is she wishes to gain. It seems fair enough at the start, but one thing she never mentions is that she will intervene, and prevent you from fulfilling your task.

She has never lost a deal, not once has she lost a bargain that she has struck.

Most of the time she will ask for your enslavement meaning that you would obey her every command for all eternity. Every once in a while she will demand your soul, to devour…There was one moment where I distinctly remember where she hadn't made her victim take either punishment…no.

The girl who like all others came to the witch asking for her wish to be granted.

This child had a very pure heart, possibly the purest heart at that time on both land and sea. She was a mermaid and a princess at that, who had fallen in love with a human.

She gave up her underwater life as well as her voice so that she could have a chance at being with her true love. If she was to fail though, and her lover married another, then the morning after their marriage her bones would melt and she would become sea foam. To forever float on the seas surface. The child's name was Nixie and this is her story.

To be continued…Ok not the average way to start a story but I never said I was normal, and my friend who I showed this to seemed to like it, sooo be nice ^_^

Ok it took me a long time to seriously pick and choose names for the non-pokemon characters. Some names seem similar, some names though are cool do not seem common to the other names.

And I purposely made it that way…I cared more or so on the meaning of said names and if I could pronounce or make nicknames for it.

I knew Sora meant sky from a manga I read and I was like hmm, let's use it because the sky and sea are both things that you can see and touch, but are both separated from quote on quote "combining" or "connecting" so it's kinda poetic to me.
