CAN'T BE HAPPENING AGAIN

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

This is a one-shot. Got the idea for this while watching "Return Of An Old Friend Pt 1" and deals with the background I created for Jason in "Red Poison". Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. I know it's short, but I was just dealing with that particular scene.

As soon as the Putties disappeared, Zack, Kimberly, Jason, and Trini headed back into the youth center.

"Man, I hope my parents didn't see any of that," he said to Zack. I don't think I'd be able to explain it, he thought. And he hated lying to them. Especially since they had already done so much for by taking him in. He had really gotten lucky with the Scotts. It wasn't just anyone who would adopt a ten-year old. Most families wanted babies or toddlers, not older kids who had been dumped for no reason. When they walked back in, however, they were all met with a big surprise: the youth center was empty. Wh-where are they? Did-did they walk out on me? he thought to himself, his eyes clouding in pain. This couldn't be happening again! He had already had one set of parents give up on him. He wasn't sure if he could handle being abandoned again. Please…why is this happening again? What'd I do wrong? he silently asked himself.

"What's going on?" he wondered out loud.

"How could a room full of people just disappear into thin air?" Trini asked in fright. He rubbed the back of his head nervously and looked around. Okay, so maybe this isn't what it appears to be. After all, the place is empty, he thought.

"I can think of a few possibilities and I don't like any of them," Zack answered. Rita. It had to be Rita, Jason realized. That was a relief…sort of. At least that way he knew he hadn't been abandoned again. He rubbed the side of his neck nervously as he willed away the thoughts. He had to focus here. If Rita really had their parents, he had to be on top of his game. The Rangers couldn't afford to have him distracted.

"This is my mom's scarf," he heard Kimberly say. "I gave it to her for her birthday."

"What's happened to our parents?" Zack asked.

"Let's try and stay calm," Jason told them. "I'll contact Zordon." Kimberly hurried back to the other Rangers. "Zordon, something terrible has happened. Can you tell us what's going on?" Kimberly reached back to take Trini's hand.

"Rangers, I'm aware of the situation. Teleport to the Command Center immediately."

"Guys," Jason said, and as he teleported, the Red Ranger found himself hoping that their mentor knew what had happened to their parents and if they could get them back. Because if they couldn't, he'd be alone again. And he didn't want that happening. He couldn't be alone. He just couldn't.
