Doctor Who

She wondered through the TARDIS hallways, confused. She had lived here a while but she couldn't quite figure out why. She allowed her fingers to glide down the walls, feeling every rivet and every scratch. Lily remembered running down these halls when she was playing with her brother or if she was running away from him because she had really made him mad.

"Why can't I remember why I'm here?" she thought to herself.

She searched frantically through her brain, every memory good and bad. She remembered her mother and she remembered her father. Even the house they lived in on Gallifry, but why would she leave? Her parents were amazing, there was no crime in the area, and her brother lived right down the street so she could visit him anytime she wanted.

"Lily?" The Doctor asked from behind her.

"Yes, Doctor," she answered.

"Are you okay? I saw you roaming the halls from the console and I was wondering if you were okay."

"I'm fine, I'm just thinking."

"About what?"

"Why are we here? I know we used to live on Gallifry, but why don't we live there anymore?" Lily asked.

"You know why we're here, Lily. Don't you remember what happened? You stayed in your room for at least 4 months. Give or take, we are in the TARDIS." The Doctor answered.

"I don't remember anything. I know we're not at home for a reason, but every time I try to remember everything goes blank."

The Doctor stood there puzzled. Lily looked up at him curiously.

"Doctor? What's wrong with me?" she asked, tears welling up in her eyes.

Lily didn't cry often. It hurt the Doctor to see her this way. He wanted to tell her what was wrong, but he didn't want to break her heart even more. He had suppressed the reasons they left Gallifry because she was almost to the point of death. She wouldn't eat, sleep, or anything except lay on her bed and cry. Even when the Doctor tries to comfort her, she pushed him away. Lily knew he was only trying to help but she seemed to feel worse when he was around.

Finally, the Doctor had had enough. He walked into Lily's room and stood in the doorway, trying to think of a way to coax her out of her room but was shocked as he watched as her chest rose and fell. The first time in months he had seen her asleep. He smiled briefly, then he gently picked her up. The Doctor carried her to the infirmary and laid her gently on the table. He placed a small kiss on her forehead, then he placed his screwdriver to her forehead. Locking away her memories of her dying home was hard, but he knew it had to be done.

"Doctor?" Lily asked, pulling the Doctor out of his thoughts.

"Yes, Starlight?"

"Are you going to tell me what's wrong with my memories?"

"Ah, yes," The Doctor paused, "I think the reason you're missing those memories is because of the matrix. You know, the one-"

"The one in my head. Right," she finished.

"Anyways, let's go cause some trouble for someone evil," He said, linking his arm in the crook of hers.

"You mean, let's go show ourselves to the Daleks and listen to the whole population say 'Doctor Who', which I think is stupid because I'm not part of it."

"'Protector who' doesn't have a nice ring to it though," The Doctor grinned.

"But Starlight does?" Lily asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I think it does."
